Lions, Tigers, and Bears, OH MY!

In my part of the world we share our space with many wild animals. Because of this I am happy to live within the city limits where we see few animals from the forest other than deer. However, an occasional black bear, or moose has wandered up Main Street and been escorted out of town my the Fish and Game department. One summer a mountain lion was seen with in a block of my house. Now I am cautious when taking walks anytime it is dark.

Just this week  a group of young people were camping in a tent in a small town near the city I live in. During the wee hours of the morning a grizzly bear attacked the campers and badly injured one of them. It saddened me to hear this news, but it also got me to thinking about other Fiverr Forum users and what wild life dangers they may encounter where they live.

I know some of you live where there may be other dangerous wildlife you could encounter so I would be interested to hear of your experiences or experiences of friends.

Grizzly bear! Amazing! In my country Kenya, the capital city Nairobi where I currently live is the only capital city in the world with a Game Reserve. The game reserve in Nairobi has the Big 5. The big 5 are; Lion, Rhinoceros, Leopard, Elephant, and Buffalo. Just by the name, those animals are extremely dangerous. And if you've ever heard of the African lion, elephant, and buffalo, you'll understand what I mean.

So you are busy with your hustling in the capital city at the same time in fear of being attacked by the Big 5. If that's not scary enough, I'll like to know what's scary. If you want you can search on the internet about Nairobi.

Africa lions, elephants, and buffalos are huge, and sometimes they cause a lot of chaos. By nowadays the government has made some measures to prevent such chaos. At least I feel somehow safe. I wouldn't want to be an African lion's dinner. 😅

A lioness walking in Nairobi National Park. If you take a deeper look, you'll see the city buildings. This freaks anyone out. One day a disaster happens and the animals manage to get out of the fence, I wonder how that day will look like.

We barely have anything - a couple foxes, deer, other forest animals. Lots of birds in the garden, too but that's all! Oh and some boars come up into the grape-garden behind us from time to time (they are scary because they usually come up here when they have babies...)

For me personally the spiders that sneak into the house to flee from the rain (we live by the forest) are the most dangerous but mostly because I react pretty badly to them. Not allergic but close! Other than them... it's mostly safe as long as you're smart!

Other than fish 🐠 encounters, like an occasional sting ray or a shark, or an octopus 🐙, we don’t get scary animal encounters.

In fact, where I live there are no wildlife animals other than few species of birds 🦅  and cats 🐈‍⬛.

We have mountain lions and American Bison in addition to black bears and grizzly bears. Here are some pictures:

Here some of the hunters hunt black bears and mountain lions, but not grizzly bears as they ar an endangered species. I have known people that have bear and cat roasts for Sunday dinner! I have had bison burger and steaks. The meat is much sweeter than beef.

Bison burger! Lol! Isn't that illegal? Even in my country people eat Buffalo steaks. I too ate it one time in pre-school in an essay writing competition. We went to an essay writing competition from Nakuru (the small town I was raised in) to Nairobi, we we're prepared a buffalo steak. Funny thing is, our essays were about preserving wild life, but in the essay competition we were prepared buffalo steak, that was just too ironic.

Maldives — tiny islands surrounded by the ocean.

Lol, no danger to those in the mountains of Montana!

😅 Even they are quite friendly here, including the sharks 🦈

The two "national" animals of Italy are the bear and the wolf, and that's also the most dangerous it gets. There are a few white sharks that I'm aware of and that's it. Most woods also have boars, the most common wild animal (that is eaten in Italy along with the rabbit).

Also yeah, living near any coast here is basically: seagulls screeching at 1 AM, seagulls screeching at 2 AM, etc.

Not at all. There are ranchers that raise them to sell to eat.

That sounds lovely. Is it warm year around?

@mattboa I just realized that so far this thread is spam free.

I also live in an area where we have many bears.. Unfortunately sometimes they attack people .. I don't really blame them since in Romania people are currently destroying the forest... it's kinda a mass illegal deforestation process that's happening here...  so the bears don't really have anywhere else to go . The good part is that we have some bear observatories where you can get really close to them behind a window and actually see them from 5-10 meters away in a safe manner...

In Japan there is almost no wildlife bothering people. As I am living in Tokyo, the only ones entering this category that I can think of are stray cats. If you are not careful enough, you might end up with one on your knees asking for cuddles ... You're now warned.

Though, we have "little" lethal flying dudes buzzing around in summer time, making everyone running away or miss their transportation ( I can relate ) :

Do seagulls attacking pigeons count?

Seagulls counts! A seagull once stole my ice cream right from my hands! so I don’t trust seagulls anymore after that

Here it’s dengue mosquitoes. You never know when they will bite you and it’s a lot of them. Country has to fumigate every week the whole city and there are random checks from the government authorities showing up at your place to see if you have still standing water outside like in your pot plants etc

WELL, am really afraid of snakes and here is why:

I live in Kenya where there are scary wildlife. Some years back we used to run a store in a place called Mwea which is usually very hot and this makes it an ideal habitat for all kinds of snakes both venomous and nonvenomous. So that particular day I was tending to customers very busy serving them. I just felt this chilling unusual cold on my feet - ice cold, only to see an approximately 1 metre snake coiling itself on my right foot. I have never been so scared in my life. I tossed it off and jumped on the counter.

One of the customer rushed inside and held the snake by the tail and hit it on the head with a soda bottle. I came to realize it was just a baby python the following  morning when I had a closer look at its corpse. It was very beautiful with black and brown strips. But a good snake is a dead one, right?😄

I fear snakes since.
