vickiespencer
Would you sell your services to a buyer who is also a seller, albeit a new seller who sells her services for much less than you do? That just happened to me. I feel this seller may have ordered my services to emulate the behind the scenes things I do. For example the forms I have created to provide the service. So, I am considering whether or not I should cancel. What is your opinion and why do you feel that way?
donnovan86
I had this thing happen multiple times. Sometimes from new sellers, other times from sellers with 7k+ reviews. I can understand why people are trying to emulate something that's sucessful. But I also believe it's better to experiment and try things yourself instead of copying others. I fulfilled those orders, but in my case it was way different, and it was years ago. What I would do now if I were in your shoes Vickie? Most likely I would cancel the order, because they are clearly trying to copy you. Plus, who knows whether they are just doing this to share a bad review and ruin your business? It's hard to know this kind of stuff. In my opinion, canceling this is the right approach.

If they did it could probably be reported since that's one of the things that's against the TOS. If it was definitely a competing seller (had the same service). From the TOS: Quote Users with the intention to defame competing Sellers by ordering from competing services will have their reviews removed or further account status related actions determined by review by our Trust & Safety team.

Sure, but you can't really prove that. And since customer support doesn't really take the work quality into consideration... It's better to just cancel and move on.

In my case, there isn't really much to steal by ordering like that. Everything is pretty transparent in my gig description (and the gallery, for additional information). I'm not sure what would it be like in your case, though. 1 hour ago, vickiespencer said: What is your opinion and why do you feel that way? It's a tough one. Perhaps they're just trying to learn, or check how good they are compared to a TRS. Or maybe they got an order (on Fiverr or elsewhere) they're not sure how to handle, so they're outsourcing their work to you (and maybe they feel that a monetary loss, if it's a Fiverr order, would be worth a great review; do they have any orders in queue?). Or it could be competition wishing to give you a bad review, as @donnovan86suggested, but if that's the case, you can report them, like @uk1000said. You're a TRS, so unless that buyer/seller already spent tons on money buying on Fiverr, the chances are that they'd get in trouble for that. To be honest, I wouldn't know what to do, either.

It's not going to hurt that much unless you cancel a lot of orders. I just had to cancel an order now because the buyer started the order and in the order requirements he just said "cancel the order"... He could have left it inactive and use the order whenever... but he specifically wanted to hurt my ratings or something... otherwise why would you activate an order just to say you would cancel it..
ligiacarvalho
I would totally cancel the order. It is better to follow your gut on this one and save yourself a headache.
helloscoopz
I wouldn't care about it if the buyer is not doing anything crazy. If its flowing like a usual order, regardless of the buyer's intention I would complete it. They might steal your questions, approach, details etc., but no one can't steal your skill right, Its all about personal confidence IMO.
eoinfinnegan
I would imagine the most likely thing is they got an order and want to get a good review as they try to grow. So they are outsourcing to you to ensure they get that good first (or first few) review(s).

disha_nauar
I faced something similar; one seller tried to copy my gig, and I was shocked by the audacity of that seller when she asked me to write a gig description for her...for free! I didn't bother much to reply to that message and kept it on seen. After 2-3 weeks, she again knocked me and asked me if I could complete an order on behalf of her; I then asked about the task and how much she's willing to pay me, she got an order of editing a 20k word article, and she wanted to pay me $8 to complete her work!! Now she is on my block-list😑. I would advise you the same as others stated, cancel the order and move on😊.

If they decide to give a bad review, it's hard to prove that they were actually maleficent. So at that point, canceling is better since you are dodging a bullet. He had an open order, he insulted me and canceled that, and he also started manipulating me, saying that he will do whatever he can to tarnish my reputation. Keep in mind that some of the work I did was not only on the first page of Google, it was the first link. So he already received plenty of business. In the end, he went to customer support, continued to insult me and threaten me. CS at that time told me to just try and solve the issue together. So I ended up refunding $300 worth of work. What I wanted to say.... once he was refunded he disappeared and after a year, he came back wanting to work with me and calling me "friend". At that point, I was... ARE YOU KIDDING ME?? So there are things that can be way worse. At the end of the day, canceling is always the right option. In my case it was a significant amount of work, I decided to just cancel and move on.
creativecolumn
Usually, I do provide my service to sellers who are not selling the same service as me. It's a good way to build your client base. But I always ignore orders from sellers who are working on my own category. We should not promote "drop service" concept here. 🙂 Edited July 4, 2021 by creativecolumn

donnovan86
Unfortunately it's not that simple. Although Fiverr has a Block button now.. so that helps.
vickiespencer
I sent my SSM a note about the situation, but we both are located in the US and it is a national holiday today. Plus, it is Sunday and I do not think he works on weekends. I will wait until to see what he thinks, hopefully by Monday. If I do cancel I will contact CS directly and not go through the resolution center as then I will have to write a reason for the cancellation that the buyer will see.
