Where to start programming if you are a newbie in software development

Hi all,

I’m a junior software developer and I’m looking for some advice from those who have experience in coding to share. Can you reveal the tips that help you to improve your coding skills? What issues do you face while coding? Is it easy to get orders for some coding-related projects (here I wonder what is better to opt for - a lot of small ones or the one big and long-term)?
I’ll be grateful for any suggestions that can influence my career path.

I hope someone will share his experience soon. However, meanwhile, I’d like to add the resources I’ve found just touching the software development knowledge base.
Taking into account being completely new to this niche, I was looking for a non-boring way of studying, smth kinda gaming related, with video integrated. Coursera and Codegym seem to meet my requirements. Has anyone tried them? Which one do you prefer? Will the online platform be sufficient to gain some coding experience?
