A buyer contacted me, but I can't reply because their status is set to "unavailable"?

I have a seller who contacted me as a buyer. I can’t respond to them because their status is set to “unavailable.”
Will this affect my response rate? What should I do in this situation?

Warning: Last time I tried this on the app, the message did not actually get received (even though it completely appears as if it does). It shows as sent, but then when you go on your computer, it's completely blank. It's major bug that has been around for at least a year.
