audioenglish
Hello all,I have been reading for some time about the difference between commercial and broadcast rights - it all seems straight forward - however what is not clear is at what point the distribution of digital media online crosses into the zone where it becomes broadcast and requires broadcast rights. For example . . . a company uses my voice to produce a video and they place it on their company website and send the link out to their mailing list . . . is this broadcast?or . . . a company uses my voice to produce a video and they place it on their facebook page and send the link out to all their facebook contacts and their mailing list . . . is this broadcast?. . . is the hosting and distribution and streaming of any digital media online, using YouTube, Vimeo, Instagram, Facebook or any of the popular online media sharing platforms broadcasting? And just to add a fly in the ointment . . if the media is completely open for all the public to see, as opposed to only available to a specific and limited number of people who might be contacts, followers or club members of a Youtube or a facebook page, does it cross from a closed group into public broadcasting?or is it only broadcasting when my voice is part of a LIVE STREAMING program via the internet, radio, TV?Please could somebody put a very clear line and separate what is and what isn’t worthy or broadcast rights?I really appreciate it and thanks in advance!Regards and best wishes to you all!
