It all depends on what the gig description says and what you have agreed to in any communication with the seller. Quite simply, if the seller is saying something different now, you may want to cancel the order. If you didn’t carefully read the description - know exactly what you were purchasing in the first place, you should probably consider paying the additional money to complete the service.

It should be pretty easy to see who is misunderstanding. 🙂

I sent them a picture of an example. Ihave now made it clear that if I wanted the example i would have bought it from that vendor. what i want is them to design me a tshirt suitable for printing like their gig said. here is response so far:

Hello sir, As i told earlier the design you attached is very low quality… when you print it, it will not be good, this is because of the quality.

However i try my best for you.

Also for $5 i will provide you printable file format PNG, JPG files.

$10 is for PSD file. In case if the Design is Not clear , it can be review by the designer in Print shop, to improve the quality.

I know a bit about design. If you sent the buyer an example image to put on a t-shirt, chances are that the image resolution is entirely too low, and blown up to the size of a t-shirt will become pixelated and look awful.

It sounds like the guy is willing to work with you, you just need to find a higher resolution image (shoot 300dpi if possible).

If you end up cancelling I’ll do the shirt design for $5 and send all the files your printer will need. It sounds like the graphic you’re looking for is fairly simple, so I’m sure I can save you some frustration.

I think what you wanted was not made clear. From what I have read so far, you sent the seller an image. According to what you say is in their description, you have 2 options. 1. To use a pre-existing image (like the one you sent) or 2. To have them make an image for you. You went with 1. You sent an image and apparently the resolution is too low and the seller will charge more to fix/adjust it.

However it seems that what you really want is option 2. A design created by the seller. I cannot see your correspondence but could you indicate if you communicated with the seller that you really wanted option 2 BUT you were sending option 1 ONLY AS AN EXAMPLE and NOT as the image you wanted? Maybe the image you sent was close to what you had in mind but you want an original design.

I think that is the confusion. The image is low resolution and it is unclear if that is the exact image you wanted to go with. 🙂

I actually don’t think you are being scammed.

Hi I am a designer too. Let me try to help you out by sharing how I see it…

Here, he is saying that the example is low res. But that's alright because that is just an example. You are paying for a design that is similar to the example. You can ask the seller to make something with these size settings: 1800x2700 pixels, 300 resolution.

This part doesn't make any sense. If you have to pay more for jpg format, what was the initial format he was sending for 5$? You can just ignore this as well as this seems like an addon suggestion.

- Here he is just offering if you want the psd file. This is optional. You don't have to pay for it but only if you need it.

Thanks!

I don’t think the seller is trying to scam you either, but the communication is terrible. I agree with madmoo, you should just cancel and find another seller who offers exactly what you want. Save yourself more headaches. And be sure to use the “contact” link (click on the sellers’s name and the link will display next to the flag on their profile page) before you order if you have any questions at all. 😉
