thomastweak
Was also having this issue. After filling out the W9, I selected that I was NOT a US citizen, then clicked "save". Then, I clicked YES, I am a US citizen, and "publish gig" was no longer greyed out. I hope this works for ya'll too. 6
mcbridebizness
Hey there everyone. Steps to resolve. #1 Click NO to the U.S. person question. #2 Click the green Save button - A popup message will appear (cant remember what it said) #3 Click the Yes button #4 DO NOT CLICK THE EDIT W-2 button like I did a few times. Instead scroll up to the top right and click save button. I believe this made me click the check box to the terms again, but after that I actually received the page with the Green publish button🙂 5

annakawrites
I tried doing that but I couldn't get back to the W-9 page. I don't like lying and this feels like it's something that can get me into trouble. Does anyone know how to reactivate the W-9 page or do I have to remake my Gig? 5
ronitascott969
I had the same problem when checking Yes on the W-9. I tried the suggestions to check No and it worked. I then went back in and changed it to Yes. I am now live! 5

joshuabecker800
I know that the "first say you're not a US citizen, then later say you are" method seems to have worked for some people here, but as a new Fiverr user, I'm hesitant to do something like that. For what it's worth, I'm waiting for my W-9 to get confirmed, but they did send me an email: Thanks for filling out Form W-9! Your information is being reviewed. This might take a few days - we appreciate your patience, and we’ll let you know if you need to take further action. If your Gigs were paused, we’ll reactivate them once your information is approved. Thanks, The Fiverr Team Edit: lmao I tried the above technique anyway and it worked. This is so stupid. But thank you for the suggestion. praisetoyi
I'm a non US citizen,I'm done with the English test and I passed. I got an email saying "A quick note to confirm that your Form W-9 information was reviewed and approved by the U.S. tax authorities, further action is required on your side." how long do I have to wait? It has been over an hour now. 4
alexandraisi
hello I have received this notification on my freelance account " Thank for filling out form w-9. You completed the check, and you are now compliant". The thing is, I don't remember completing any form w-9 and I'm not a US citizen. Can someone help me? 9
jessycausey
Hello! Currently in need of some assistance, regarding the W-9 Form. I am a US citizen. But I have been living in the UK since I was 3 years old (I am 25). I have not been back to the US since. I'm not yet a British citizen (Its costs over £2000 sooo). I do however have indefinite leave to remain here in the UK. I'm unsure as what to do as I do not live nor work in the US. Hi @jessycausey, if you are a US citizen, your worldwide income is subject to US taxes. So you would still need a W-9. I'm an American expat in Japan and I have to file taxes with both the Japanese government and the U.S. government. Luckily there are foreign earned income exclusions for Japan. I suggest you consult with a tax professional familiar with U.S. and U.K. tax laws. Quote I'm a U.S. Citizen living and working outside of the U.S. for many years. Do I still need to file a U.S. tax return? Yes, if you are a U.S. citizen or a resident alien living outside the United States, your worldwide income is subject to U.S. income tax, regardless of where you live. However, you may qualify for certain foreign earned income exclusions and/or foreign income tax credits. Visit Publication 54, Tax Guide for U.S. Citizens and Resident Aliens Abroad, for additional information. https://www.irs.gov/individuals/international-taxpayers/frequently-asked-questions-about-international-individual-tax-matters#:~:text=Do I still need to,or foreign income tax credits. 8 1

songwriter2
so, I just had that issue like 5 minutes ago, but, thanks to realbellawrites, i was able to publish my gig. when given the choice of whether you live in or out of the united states, press the OUT OF UNITED STATES one, so you dont have to do the W9 form. then publish, and after you publish, Go to settings and select "Form W 9" and fill it out and boom your good!
alvi_advantage
Can confirm, I also currently live in the year 2023 and it's still an issue. Residents of 2024 it is not your fault, it's ours; we trusted you to invent a time machine and fix this, but you didn't, a judgement error we shouldn't have made. PS, 2029.. We know you have top tier A.I. and commercially available robotic androids, send help. Edited January 22 by alvi_advantage
