Ridiculous Buyer Requests

Yeah I’ve noticed a lot of it isn’t a special, unique project.

I think it’s laziness and also entitlement. People want to think people are desperate to work for them and want people to spend time trying to get their business. A lot of clients have an ego and like to control people and feel important.

Seems ironic but I find this goes away the more you charge. The cheapest clients seem to have the biggest egos (On and off Fiverr).

True. This is also a way to make them feel powerful to discuss the price and manipulate people. I had a few situations like that. I had a client offering me 30% of my quotation and when I said no he didn’t accepted and started to harrass me. In other situation another one simply said that I needed to offer him a discount if I wanted to work with him. And so on…

Great point. It’s a way to lure people who will let you manipulate them. You can literally encourage them to come to you with a BR. That’s a dream for a con artist. They’re predators.

Yeah, it’s depressing and infuriating. I’m new to Fiverr and trying to build up my ratings and move up the levels. This isn’t easy when starting out and unfortunately the BRs are a way for me to build up sales and experience. I’ve done some jobs for $5 but they were small and about 50% of my gig. I only send offers that are fair for both.
But I start my morning out looking at buyer requests and it’s becoming a frustrating way to start the day. I am so tempted to reply to all of these buyers that request ridiculous stuff to tell them they are obnoxious predators! And even more so to the buyers that let themselves be exploited!
I don’t usually write stuff here, but this morning I needed to get that off my chest!
I really wish Fiverr would set some reasonable parameters for what buyers can request for $5! Because they current state is simply disrespectful.
Thanks for listening.
Good luck sellers and thanks to the sensible buyers who value our time and effort.

Correction: …even more so to the sellers that let themselves be exploited…

This just encourages buyers to keep posting unreasonable requests!

Hi @erikapimental, you should only send offers that are fair to you/ You owe that to yourself. And please don’t tell off those buyers, they could report you and you could get banned. Hold on, more clients are coming your way.

Hahaha! No! I won’t tell them off. But the urge is there, believe me?

And yes, I only send offers for reasonable requests.

Thanks?

You haven’t indicated what that amount of work really is. Most of us aren’t data miners so 70,000, 700, 7,000.000.000 are not that different. He offers $30, what is YOUR price? What % of your price does $30 represent?

If it were me, anything less than 50% of my $$ value is a hard eff off - unless they are adding genuine value in another way - and be sure they will as a buyer offering a date with Kylie if I do $500 work for $5 is not at all likely to eventuate.

Anything between 50-99% of my $$ value is still dubious as to make an offer on Fiverr one commonly has already probably halved the real value of that job.

So my advice based on what you have already said, kick him to the curb hard as he is not a customer, merely a sneaky thief. Once a sneaky thief, always a sneaky thief. Find a real customer who will value what you do for them.

Easier said than done I know well. But as long as you don’t value yourself properly snakes like this will hover around you, taking advantage, yet returning nothing.

🙂

you are right, I already done it brother, Nice to meet you, you are the power of energy I think

In some ways, I’d prefer them to do these requests than order blindly.

I had somebody order my gig (VBA automation) and what they was requesting was literally impossible. Had they setup a request or chat beforehand, this could be confirmed but instead I had to cancel which impacts my stats.

It is frustrating to see these requests but it’s better than getting blind orders.

The ones that get me are writing tasks offering something like $1 per 1,000 words. At best, that is $1 per hour for an experienced writer, let alone someone new to Fiverr.
