Fiverr mailed me "Your favourite gigs"

I got an email where fiverr listed some of my favourite gigs in proofreading and editing sub-category . My own gig is on top of the list . What does that mean ? Is that something to be happy about ?

I’m curious to know how many sellers see their own gig. I’m pretty sure Google and I aren’t friends and yet every email addresses me by name. 😉

As I suspected (see above) “being featured” in the email is automated. But really Fiverr, if you’re going to try and make me feel good by pretending to give me free advertising in a mass email, could you at least make sure my gig is presented in the correct category?

It would be a fail if the attempt at least made sense - who wants to buy their own gig anyway? . Argh. This place.

Reply to @itsyourthing: Does that mean, that email has only been sent to me, no one else? That would be really frustrating!

Anyway, do you have any idea of how Fiverr selects those gigs automatically? I mean the selection criteria which Fiverr relies on . Does everyone else get the same email? Thanks.

Emails can be personalized through the software. In this case a gig from the Fiverr account associated with the email address would automatically be inserted into that particular email. The same email would go out to many addresses, but the one you receive will have one of your gigs in it. Everyone who gets the email will see one of their own gigs among the others. It’s exactly the same as when your bank, or hosting service or whoever, sends out emails that say “Dear YourName”.

I can’t guarantee that’s what’s going on with this particular mailing, but it seems probable, especially considering that my gig in the email isn’t even in the correct category - that makes me believe it was automatically generated.

@itsyourthing you are damn right about your idea of featured email. I also think that Fiverr just added my gig to the email for maintaining courtesy. But the other gigs on the email seem to be lucky as they got free promotion from Fiverr!

@adversity Have your sales increased after that email has been sent to you. In my case, nothing has changed accept some clicks?

Does any of your friends get the same email with your gig included in that? We are trying to figure out how that email thing works.

It’s certainly possible that the ‘automatically included’ email recipients gigs ended up in emails that went to other people too. I have no idea how they selected the other gigs that were included. Probably the same way as featured/promoted gigs on-site - either randomly or just what whoever was setting up the emails was in the mood for. 🙂

Its just a lie my friend, unfortunately. I got the same thing and my gig was second in the list so I rang up a friend who is also on Fiverr and they had the same email, but with different gigs in it, and mine wasn’t in his. So I assume its just a computer generated rubbish.

@bkaric yeah, may be. But in the meantime fiverr mailed me another message in which also my gig was featured! And I can see the gig listing is now changed from the previous one.

Reply to @daffo: Use the search function, look at a few gigs and then let us know if you get any emails. I hadn’t gotten any until I checked out some gigs from the sellers on this thread. (Using their links through here.)
