That is not an excuse. Please read the Terms of Service here:

You agreed to it when you signed up to Fiverr.

Ok ok I get it i just insisted the guy should be a little bit more polite when he responded

Personally I think those buyers who try to lure sellers to contact them outside fiverr are scammers. Fiverr system should ban those buyers.

So you want a video chat feature, but also think buyers who want that are scammers? This doesn’t make sense.

You got me wrong. I am referring those buyers as scammers who share their personal details (emails or messenger id) with the sellers and ask buyers to contact them their. I am quite sure that scammers would never like to use video meeting system if introduced by fiverr.

Once you spend a bit more time on the forum, you’ll understand. Time after time after time we keep seeing people complaining that they got banned for no good reason, and then it turns out they broke the rules (which they either didn’t bother to read, or they found them inconvenient so they kept breaking them). And they keep arguing that there’s nothing wrong with what they did, just like you kept arguing for a while, because it’s easier for you to communicate via Discord.

I think Fiverr should introduce a video messaging system itself or officially partner with online meeting platforms like zoom so that buyers and sellers can have long discussions.

Only if it was optional. There are many sellers who don’t want (or need) long discussions, and there are way too many buyers who want to talk endlessly about their project, plus everything else they happen to think of.

Ok you may have seen people whine about being banned but DONT ASSUME EVERYONE IS LIKE THAT. Also sometimes people who were banned may have been FOLLOWING the rules and prob banned for no reason. There are many incidents like that (VoiceOver Pete etc). So again, DONT ASSUME EVERYONE WILL WHINE ON FORUMS THAT THEY GOT BANNED.

Agreed, I need an app right now (pretty complicated) but it is very hard for me to go to different sellers and explain them the things one by one, I could use the buyers’ requests but it seems that many of the good sellers don’t go there and I don’t want to hire a newbie right now as the app needs to be professional and I am even willing to pay in 5-figures for it. So, a calling feature would make my life so easier

Ok maybe not MANY people but THERE ARE still people who were banned for no reason. Read this

Hello everybody, I know all you people are in favor of fiverr. I was too, but I wish to warn everybody about the danger of working with Fiverr itself and I also wish if you could give me maybe a bit more information on what I could do. I am not going to turn you against Fiverr, I get it as you earn money from it as I did but I wish to tell you my experence and please hear it out. I am in a bit of situation and I am very disgusted by Fiverr staff. Now, I know that most people don’t know me and m…

I have read that thread. As I understand it, the banned seller refuses to disclose exactly what he was selling, so we do not know if it was unjust or not. We are only hearing one side.

He did say that, but he still refused to go into any more detail. As I said in my previous post, we have only heard the seller’s version of the events.

To get this thread back on topic, here is a link to a recent thread discussing the issue of a Fiverr voice/video chat system:

So, I would like to ask my fellow sellers, would they like it seeing a calling option (both video and normal calls) apart from fiverr chat to communicate with their customers. According to me, chats are less engaging (however, everyone has their own perspective of seeing things), if me and my client decide mutually, that we can have a quick call instead of chatting which will save time too (Personally, I don’t like writing long texts to clients explaining them how my process works)It is easie…

Fair point. Ok I give up. My fingers hurt from typing and I’m on ipad 😃

Try putting that seller’s name (the one that started the topic, not the later one) into Google and see the results that come up. Don’t do it at work or while someone is looking over your shoulder, though.

VoiceOver Pete

Pete was banned because Fiverr took the stance that his work was being used for scams. And to be honest they were half right - while his videos were jokes, they were jokes about credit card scams.

It seems that there’s a group of sellers who would welcome it, as well as some buyers, too. As you’ve seen in your own topic, though, the majority of those who voted are against it, so if it ever gets implemented, I do hope it’s going to be optional, and that we won’t be forced to use it.

It’s obvious that it was a joke. I don’t want to be rude but this was a REALLY STUPID MOVE FROM FIVERR.

I’m not necessarily saying I agree with the choice.

But I can understand why they did it. Perhaps Fiverr was being pressured by other companies - we’ll probably never know.

What companies could pressure fiverr for this though? Not being rude but maybe some examples like credit card companies or banks maybe?

Yup, I agreed to you on this point and yes, we got a lot of mixed responses from the community regarding this

It has to be optional, that goes without saying. Judging by the writing skills of some sellers, I can only imagine the call quality lol. Not to mention there are many services for which it makes no sense to have a call.

I also don’t get this point.

You said earlier that you had to refresh the page to see messages - I’ve literally never had that problem. Messages to my Fiverr inbox always show up immediately.

You said earlier that you had to refresh the page to see messages

Me too. I have a browser window with Fiverr open, I am looking at my order, typing response, I get a notification in a bubble that I have a message from the buyer, I have to copy text refresh the page then read the message and paste it. Sometimes I have red mark over messages and I refresh multiple times but it doesn’t show them. Only after I close and open in a new window.

And many more bugs like when sending custom offer I write my proposal in the message box then click on the select package, it erases my message without possibility to return it…

It is quite odd that they’re not providing a way for it, yes. It seems to be related to trust issues with sellers, thinking that we would use the opportunity to talk about selling outside of Fiverr when they can’t monitor the discussion. (Almost the same thing with tips getting a fee on top, they’re likely to be thinking we would sell services through tips)

But perhaps if they implement word recognization to their voice client, they can notice anyone abusing the platform, making it as safe for Fiverr as the current text messaging system is.

And many would do that, to avoid paying the 20%. I’ve seen that advice often, get clients on Fiverr, but then deal with them directly.

On top of that, Fiverr started as a fun site where people do (or buy) stuff for $5, and, of course, a lengthy discussion to earn $5 would be ridiculous.
