FIRST WRITTEN AT A TIME OF STRESS!
PRICES HAVE SINCE RETURNED TO THEIR ORIGINAL VALUES AND MAY IN FACT EVEN BE FURTHER INCREASED!

But the subject is still a valid one, that is worth reading and discussing,

So I ask the community to leave this original post here to give added context to the rest of the topic.

Thank you.

Changed all my Gigs price down to 0.5 p a Word.

I can not work for any cheaper thank that.

I know it may seem a little extreme,

BUT

I’d much rather get paid a pittance and still be working than not working at all!

(I am not in this for the money,)

(I am in it to avoid having to mix with any people in a real work environment. If I have to lower my standard of living to avoid that nightmare, then it is a fair swap!)

So if the rest of you writers want to feel free to outsource to me,
Claim the credit with your customers and take the “lion’s share” of any money,

Then, I am ok with that.

I just want to write.

Just help me stay indoors!

If I buy two basic I get 10000 words?

You have so many TOS breaking things and overall not up to the standard things in your GIGs, I do not know where to start or even to start since you maybe did all this deliberately?

Can you help me how Ghost writing procedure goes? What do I need to provide to seller in order for himher to start with ghost writing?

Well, “If” understand your question correctly.

No matter what gig you choose, it should work out at about 0.5 p a word.

For every extra 1000 in the gig type, I added roughly (ish) about 5 days to the delivery.

(Because if I am going to work so cheaply, then I am not going to kill myself doing it!)

To cover all the bases I have 3 gigs

One as SMAll jobs

One for average

And

One for huge

But no matter what it should still work out as 0.5 a word,

The rest is just labelling, So I can flexibility in what I promote to who.

EG, Some potential customers only want a bit of text while others might want a very large amount.

As for the ghostwriting bit,

That is just a small side unity, for the “Civilians” rather than people like us!

Say, if someone wanted a love poem for a wife and wanted credit, or maybe even a whole novel

For items I am doing, outsourced from other writers, it does not, really, apply.

PS

You may notice the Largest in the “Small jobs package” is the same as the smallest in the “Average pack.”

And the largest in the “Average” is the same as the smallest in the “Huge.”

Among all 3 there is only really 7 types (not 9)

It is all, just smoke and mirrors and semantics, for effect, nothing more.

Again for the benefit of “Civilians” not others like us!

At the end of the day, 0.5 p a world is STILL 0.5 p a word, Nothing more.

I am just asking about ghostwriting since my daughter asked me about a discussion she had with her friends.

One of her friends has flat feet and they were wondering how is she going to escape fast enough from zombies with her condition, and since I write novels from, well, ever, I immediately thought:

“How to escape from zombies if you have FLAT feet. TUTORIAL”

I am currently working on 5 books with 12 more in the draft so I can not work on this.

Get some better images for your GIGs.

Decorate your description more.

The problem with doing this is that you are devaluing skills for everyone else.

Essentially, you are prepared to write 1000 original words for £5 / $6.25 before any fees, tax or other deductions are applied.

Fiverr will take 20 percent leaving you with £4. Here in the UK you’ll lose another £1 in tax and national insurance, leaving you with £3 in your pocket - about $3.75.

You’re also likely to lose some of that £3 in transfer fees / exchange rate - maybe leaving you with £2.75 / $3.40 for a 1000 word original piece.

As a professional writer myself (although I don’t sell writing services through Fiverr) I can’t agree with what you are doing.

My minimum fee for a 1000 word article would be in the region of 30x what you are charging and my fees are actually very fair. I know of writers that get paid four times as much as me (they are better connected!) - thereby they charge 120x what you do.

Please don’t devalue the marketplace for everyone. You will attract scammers like a bee to honey. Have some pride.

Great point. No matter what, don’t devalue yourself.

I fully understand where you are coming from

And I promise this is not an act of spite against the world

But I am desperate and can simply, not think of anything else to do!

Due to mental illness making a “Poper Job” an impossibility

This is all I have to offer!

That and some art.

No one wants to work for next to nothing…

No one

Give me some other options!

I won’t make my bills this month!

I am listening!

Ha ha, I never suggested it’s an act of spite against the world!

But just because marketplaces like Fiverr allow you to sell services cheap, in my opinion it doesn’t necessarily make it right to do so.

I genuinely wish you the best of luck though.

If an get at least a little bit of finacial ceiling room

I may be able to put my prices back up.

So hopefully this will only be temporay.

PS,

Bees make the honey.

It is the Wasps who try and steal it…

So maybe, I willl unfortunately attract, Scammers like Wasps to Honey.

You need to read the ToS and think ethically.

Of course sellers aren’t allowed to fulfill orders by passing them onto another seller. I guess the buyer’s confidentiality doesn’t matter? They buy from a person because they trust that person and think that person is doing the job. Deception isn’t going to get you business.

And why do you think charging so low makes orders more likely? Instead of focusing on being cheap, learn how the market works and differentiate yourself.

I don’t understand why so many sellers think that undercharging brings business.

All it does is prompt forum posts from people who wonder why charging cheaply led to them being scammed…

Also, no seller would agree to resell your services because that makes no financial sense.

So if I can not compete on price

(Or if I try to, then it is ethicaly “Bad”)

And I do not feel I can confidently compete on quality

(Not that I am bad, But neither am I any William Shakespeare, I am probably just below average-ish, I hope. )

Then how else do I compete with the competition?

I tried a whole “I am the weird writer” thing to attempt to grab a possible Neche, but it did not work.

As I said to one person earlier,

Offer some solutions rather than just point out problems I already know about…

If we are all dong pretty much the same thing, then how do we differentiate from every other person that can equally do, for instance, some knocked up copy, for some average style blog?

If it is not on price?

A few pretty pictures in the gallery and a shoved in poem in the gig description does not really make you any different than the next writer in the queue, not really…

After getting past the mere gimmicks we are all essentially all the same ‘thing’, doing the same things and chasing the very the same markets.

I have a slight advantage of living in a crap area so my mortgage is only under 300 £ a month.

So I have only one possible edge on someone that lives in (for example) London.

And that my living expenses are much lower so I can make my prices lower.

Without that one and only advantage, what else do I have?

Apart from a bit of table dressing, why would someone go to me rather than the next writer?

I can not cruse my Facebook or the wine bars of SW1 and make fake friend connections the way some others do (nor would I ever want to!)

So what are your thoughts on some of these notions?

More importantly, what are some of your real solutions?

Why are you trying to sell something in an extremely saturated market if you don’t understand your competition or sales and your skills are below average?

It baffles me why people try to sell things they aren’t very skilled in. And then they think they can override that lack of proficiency by undercharging. You can’t.

It’s called arbitrage, and there’s no rules specifically against it. Personally I don’t do it, since it’s a risk (my profile will be hit hard if the guy I hire delivers crap), but a lot of people are successful with it in scale.

You are confusing geography and local economic advantages with professional skills. I am actually from (originally) very near you. - A place near Darlington. (You are easy to find online.)

I get fewer buyers because now I live in Malta and people assume I speak English as a second language. - Yet I command a higher price than you.

To be honest, I think you are expecting too much too fast from Fiverr. I’d advise you to start a blog on Steemit, Medium, or Hive.io which are all places you can earn from posting. If no one reads your posts, you are still building a portfolio of work you can direct potential buyers to.

Really your objective should be to refine your writing. Alternatively, flip the coin. Don’t be the person begging others to outsource to you. Create high priced gigs and just outsource everything. A lot of people do this and it works, providing you manage that whole side of things well.

You not so subtle digs here and there are some of the clumsiest attempts on passive-aggressive bullying manipulation I have ever seen.

It is hard to believe you might be in professional marketing.

Which is why I can not take you seriously… anymore
Hence the joke…

The Little patronising hints that I am inadequate and not ready for this market etc, etc??
But not a single factual solution,
All emotive, No substance!
Really??

For someone so much more skilled than me, you seem to be investing an awful amount of time trying to make me quit.

It cannot help but make me wonder if I am perhaps a better writer than I at first thought I was.

So thank you for the accidental affirmation.

Yeah, you need to just get used to that. Don’t blame other people and risk making enemies. Do you know how much factual solutions cost?

Why should anyone give you theirs for free when they have discovered them themselves?

Think of things that way and you might start to see the other side.

I’m only giving you advice because we are kind of local.

On the one hand, you are right

Always avoid making enemies, especially professionally

On the other

You can rate both yourself and others by the enemies they make and the strength of any hate.

Even more so if the hate is only oneway!

A person with no enemies at all has never marked the Earth, and might as well have never been born!

And before you jump to quickly to disagree,

Take a moment to ask yourself,

Even “IF” you don’t consider anyone an enemy yourself and love the whole world.

How many people consider and treat you as an enemy anyway?

Because if someone hates you, then you must have done something, in some way, that meant something real!
