Buyer Asks for Logo Design Before Placing an Order

Didn’t want to start a new topic on this and tried to find a thread detailing similar experiences. But I couldn’t find any.

So, anyway, a (prospective) buyer messages me the following:

"Make the logo based on this image with proper coloring and adjusment so it looks professional…

If i like work…i will place order"

LOL. Am I missing something? Is the buyer asking me to do the work before placing an order? 🤨

I told the buyer I can’t do the work before he decides to buy. His response:

I think he is spamming you. check buyer’s previous reviews, If he is top buyer and if you think he is genuine , you can send him logo with watermarks on it and low resolution files.

Many “buyers”(scammers) are like that. You did the right thing. He would have run away with a free design.

He has a lot of good reviews, actually (I can’t click on the reviewers’ names, though).

Anyway, regardless, I don’t think it’s a good practice to submit a design before the buyer decides they like it or not. The design he wanted redone was an illustration of a woman with child (with a watermark saying “just a rough sketch” over it), so would require me to redraw the design; not to mention I don’t know what the person means by “proper coloring and adjustment.”

Funnily enough, I think it’s maybe the fact that this person demanded I do a design before making the decision to place an order. If the buyer just asked me if I could do it, I might do a draft out of interest and/or if the person was pleasant.
