Community Moderators Needed!

Recommended Posts

I would apply, but I’m afraid I’m not personable enough 😦

Working on it, but the power of the meksell is too strong to resist.

You never hire an executioner by looking for an animal lover. Go for it. It could be a life-changing experience.

wp_kid and GIG N/A madness, I knew it will come to this.

Regarding BENEFITS, in my book, that means free Tshirt, notepad, pen, sticky notes, shower cap, shower slippers, umbrella, beach towel, and backpack. When I was selecting my new bank I send them that exact list and said whoever gets me more things from the list gets me as the client.

Moderators help ensure the success of your community by monitoring user activity and flagged items. This forum would not be what it is without active volunteers helping monitor and moderate conversations that happen here.

Over the last few years, there have been some amazing moderators who have, and continue to volunteer their time to help ensure that this community stays on task and conversations here are helpful and civil.

@wp_kid - @annai80 - @fonthaunt - @sue_mcl - @eoinfinnegan to name a few rockstars.

And it’s time we add more people to help us take this community to the next level. I’d love to be able to put together a moderation coalition of many sellers (and buyers) who represent many categories, countries, time zones and view points as this represents Fiverr as a whole.

While the platform (Discourse) has a lot of “self moderating” features built into it already, some human contact is always a good thing. Community members have been able to flag and report improper posts and comments. As well as the built in level system that have limits on posting.

Would you be a good fit to be a moderator?

  • You are active on the forum and have civil, helpful comments & posts.
  • You are an active Fiverr Seller or Buyer and have an account in good standing with Fiverr.
  • The tone of your posts are personable, helpful and welcoming.
  • You’re able to jump in and commit to moderating 10-15 min blocks, at least 3-4 days per week.

Benefits:

  • Helping out & grow the community. The rising tide lifts all boats.
  • “Direct” access to employees at fiverr via a Community Slack Channel.
  • Exposure (I hate listing this as a benefit to freelancers, but it’s true)
  • Sometimes swag & gifts (when I can get budget for it)
  • You get to join a community of moderators!
  • PHENOMENAL COSMIC (forum) POWERS!

    tenor-1

The application form is pretty simple. Keep in mind that we do have access to all your posts & selling history, so we will be vetting each application for both selling habits and Forum activity.

I’ll keep this open until June 1st. Good luck to everyone who applies and I hope to see many applications. Feel free to check out the Community Standards & Forum Rules - 2020 if you have questions about WHAT is moderated and if you have any questions, please post below.

Fiverr Forum Moderation Application

For those interested in becoming a moderator on the forum.

I’m too argumentative for this job.

  • The tone of your posts are personable, helpful and welcoming.

Not always. LOL

For what’s worth I’d like to see you as a moderator.

Unfortunately the list of people I’d like to see in moderation is far shorter than the list of people I would not like to see as moderators. Power trip is a real thing in this forum.

I hope there’s some sort of vetting by Fiverr

Lots of great people seem to be applying which is great.
My preference would have to be towards those who stay active on the forum and steer or control conversations to stop them getting to the point of being closed/removed. Proactive rather than reactive essentially. This does tend to take up more time though so it’s a tough method to commit to.

Hopefully the newly selected moderators can help in turning the forum into a great place for all of us to hang and help each other out.

Please don’t do this. Paradise always falls. People just can’t handle it. That’s why they go stealing other people’s fruit and getting kicked out, or they get plugged into virtual reality pods so giant metal AI spiders can use the human race as an energy source.

Do you really want that on your conscience?

Humans only thrive as a species when there is a good fight to be had. The Romans knew it, the Greeks knew it, the Aztecs knew it, and America was founded on it.

Personally, I’d like to see a moderation team who can stir things up a bit. Create an entire category for losers of the week where how-do-I-mek sell posts get brutally dumped to. Then have a few really gripping forum games like Who’s God Gets You the Most Sells, where each week people who usually wouldn’t start writing Alhamdulillah as they sign off all their posts, while sellers who already do, give worshiping other Gods like Vishnu a chance.

Right here, right on this forum, we could finally unravel the very mysteries of the universe, all while having epic gladiatorial combat occasionally.

Of course, there is a tiny bit of hyperbole in there. However, the forum only hit the pits after the great wave of bans of actually interesting people and natural discussion.

Trying to create a virtuous utopia always fails. It’s like when you ban smoking in bars, all the interesting people are suddenly gone and the people left try very hard to pretend they are still enjoying themselves, but then they drop off one by one until your bar goes belly up.

All that said good luck. You are possibly one of the few people I can think of here who will apply who is not on a power trip and actually makes a living on Fiverr.

Tbh why all the meksells or “how do I get orders” posts don’t just get directly dumped or deleted is a mystery to me. There are SO many and there’s so many replies to them already. Every new user can just spend 30 seconds looking up the older topics. I understand freedom of speech, but some days my Home is filled with 30 posts like these and maybe people who really need help get buried under the “how to get 1st order” posts and that bugs me a lot.
