maddisont Posted May 5, 2020 Posted May 5, 2020 To start this off, I know it is against TOS to do homework for a student. However, I’ve seen a few other posts on the forum where it’s mentioned that it’s okay to proofread something that has already been written by the student. Is this the case? Or am I better off cancelling the order now? Thanks for any input!
maddisont Posted May 6, 2020 Author Posted May 6, 2020 Yes it’s against the TOS, So Cancel the Order.I might still contact CS, though I hear their response times have been longer than normal. Thank you for the reply 🙂
vickiespencer Posted May 6, 2020 Posted May 6, 2020 Yes it’s against the TOS, So Cancel the Order.Yes the proofread things that has already been written by a student you can do. But you can contact Fiverr support as well for better clarification. That is incorrect! You have visited the Forum one day and read threads for 25 minutes. Please do not advise others unless you are 100% sure you are giving accurate information.I know we can not proofread student school work because it is part of their grade, and that is against TOS, which states:Third-party TOS violation - By taking part in doing someone else’s academic work (which will likely be submitted as the student’s own work) you are actively taking part in a violation of the integrity code of most, if not all, schools and academic institutions. This behavior can lead to the suspension or expulsion of students. Fiverr does not allow taking part in such fraudulent activities.I know it is against Fiferr’s TOS because I did contact CS about it and because it has been noted on the Fiverr Forum by sellers that received warnings for doing so.We proofreaders can proofread the buyer’s theses and dissertations.

The idea is to not write for a student or help him in any way. Proofreading helps the student, so I would consider proofreading school content something that breaches Fiverr’s TOS. I wouldn’t touch that even with a 10-foot pole. 😁

Either way, thank you for the response. Yeah, I’m probably just going to cancel. Better safe than sorry.

Better safe than sorry.I have had students book my gig for proofreading without contacting me first. Every time, I have contacted CS and asked them to cancel the order, and they have done so without affecting my stats. Do not go through the resolutions center because then it will affect your stats. Contact CS directly. They will inform the buyer.

Last time I did a mutual cancellation it didn’t seem to affect my profile, but I guess that’s because I also sent a message to CS.I already sent a mutual cancellation to the buyer because I wasn’t sure CS would be able to get back with me before the timer ran out, but I’ll send a message to them right now too. Things would be so much simpler if people would message before ordering 😆
