Bad experience with a buyer and fiverr

Recommended Posts

I was recently promoted to level 1 with all positive responses until one recent buyer whose behaviour demoted me to no level again.

The thing is we had mutual agreement that I would sent him final product on his email, since it was taking a lot of time and it was no problem for him about time deadline. So I sent him unfinished work and let him accept the work.

When I sent him the final work, he didn’t accept it. In contrary he would never accept it since I had already done 1000 times amendments, and he was never satisfied. So I refunded the amount on his personal bank account on mutual agreement. Later, he gave a very bad feedback tagging my unfinished work and filing dispute on fiverr wanting his money back from fiverr too.

Fiverr gave me warning against violating its T&Cs giving warning of account suspension. I have never had intention of going beyond rules and regulations of it. It was straight unfair decision for a new seller like me without investigating the overall thing.

Such a disappointing experience. From being good to bad overnight just because of one seller, how justified is this?

I have never had intention of going beyond rules and regulations of it.

But you did break rules. Intended or not it doesn’t take away a responsibility and punishment away from you just because you didn’t know rules.

You can rob a bank and say that you didn’t know you can’t do it. It’s still breaking rules and will be resulting in punishment.

You are lucky that you got only one warning because you broke quite a few rules:

  1. You sent incomplete delivery.
  2. You asked for email address and sent files outside of fiverr.
  3. You asked and sent money to his personal bank taking transactions away from fiverr.

how justified is this?

I would say that you were even lucky. Your account could’ve been banned right away because you broke 3 rules, that’s 3 warnings and automatic suspension.

Be happy that fiverr didn’t notice other rules that you broke.

Of course if you want you can always open a ticket with CS and see what will be their actions when they will discover from your story that you actually broke more rules than they thought.

So you don’t bother reading the rules but you want support to go through every detail of your conversations when it is clear that you have broken rules.

Completely justified and you are lucky to still have an account.

Now, instead of feeling like you have been treated badly, count yourself lucky and make sure things like this don’t happen again - go read the ToS until you understand it properly.

It was straight unfair decision

In my opinion, it was fair, and Fiverr was too good and too kind for you. You broke 3 rules within 1 order.

Nowhere in the ToS does it say “You can break the ToS in X circumstance”. You have to follow the rules and there were many legitimate ways you could have dealt with this. Policy is policy and your “intention” doesn’t change the policy.

Nothing gives you a free pass to break the ToS you agree to you when you register with a company and it’s your responsibility to follow them and understand them.

Think about it from Fiverr’s perspective: why WOULD they let you get away with breaking these rules? They’d be letting sellers sabotage their company if they set this precedent. Also, if they put loopholes in their policy, then ALL sellers can abuse it.

What ways there could have been for my case? Would you mind giving me some suggestions? I am still newbie trying to learn things around.

Thank you !
