Request for personal info from buyer?

I’m new to Fiverr…I offer proofreading/editing services. I just had a potential buyer from Japan inquire about my services…the weird thing is that he said he’d like to have a photo of me and my home address, so that his client can “trust” me. I don’t feel comfortable with this–especially since there’s already a thumbnail pic of me on my page. Could this guy be a scammer of some type…?

Hi @writershael. That user actually sent me the exact same message. I’m assuming that he’s sending the same message to all editors/proofreaders and writers here on Fiverr regarding some new business venture he’s undertaking. From what I can understand from his message, he seems to be forming a business offering writing services and wants to outsource jobs to Fiverr sellers. Whether it’s a scam or not, his messages are definitely spam and possibly in violation of TOS since he may be trying to poach Fiverr’s sellers, and I reported him already. I suggest clicking the “report” link on the bottom of his message to block him from contacting you further.

I just got the same message, so I came here to the forum to find out how to report him, as I wasn’t sure how this was done.

More like so the client can stalk you. Giving you a picture of my face and exactly where I live would be a stalker’s dream!

I got that message too, and I’m not a proofreader. That is so strange! Maybe in Japanese culture, clients need personal information to know they can trust you…? Who knows!
