Client has given more work than discussed

I’ve only gotten three orders on Fiverr so far, and they were for a fanfic au

Really? I would’ve estimated you in the dozens, if not hundreds, with how experienced you sound on here.

I’m one of those people who fall into the Jack-of-all-trades, so my gigs aren’t really coordinated. I’m in no rush to make them sparkly, though.

If it works, it works.

I’ve plenty of experience, just not through the Fiverr platform.

I’m not sure if the cancelation affected how I appear within the search algorithm, but it doesn’t appear anywhere publically. It shows up on my ‘dashboard’ and brings down my percentage of completed orders.

After 60 days, the cancellation statistic will no longer affect your gig. (The algorithm is… iffy, anyway.)

So in my basic gig ‘I will edit & proofread 1000 words of English text’ I have three different levels (proofread, light edit, and heavy edit). For the light edit it’s $10…the heavy edit I have at $20.

Huh, I see… It seems like buyers are struggling with discerning what is what. Have you displayed it clearly?

I also see you had the same idea as me, with how you have a gig aimed at other sellers. The amount of sellers I’ve seen on this forum with bad grammar has suprised me, though I have yet to make a gig specifically to edit others’ gigs.

That’s a relief.

(A bit unrelated, but I was looking at your non-native gig, and the first thing I saw was “tongue. Enter me!” 🙈 @theenglishninja )

That’s technically against the rules. It’s in the TOS to not present yourself falsely, and if you get someone else to write your gig, and you can barely communicate in English, a buyer might feel like they’ve been falsely advertised to.

It’s a bit grey-area.

You can point out errors, or provide lessons, but doing the work for them doesn’t help them in the long-run.

Really? That surprises me. I’m really glad I haven’t gone ahead and set that all up now. I try not to get any strikes on any platform I’m on.

When asked, I can go into detail as to why I make the changes that I do, explain the rules, and give examples. That was a large part of what I did on a writing site. I even ended up making my own explanation book because the same mistakes are repeated by most people.
