As for “learn to design like Karim Rashid”, that’s not particularly helpful advice. Better would be

Learn to work hard like Karim Rashid, constantly improving your skills and recognize opportunities, even if they’re in unusual places.

“We should tell more young designers not to worry about what they’re going to do with their design careers. They should start their own brands. Designers should create their own beautiful brands that can change the world.”
