Buyer Requests a Modification

I haven’t had this happen to me, so I don’t know how it works. If a buyer requests a modification and it is outside the realm of reason, can a seller refuse it, close the order and get paid?

I was wondering that too. I’ve had buyers order modifications before, which were perfectly reasonable. However, the thought did occur to me that some might use it as a way to duck paying for a job that was properly completed.

I’ve had them request modification for extra work. I’ve put a polite note in the delivery saying the extra work will cost x amount depending on the amount required and that I’d be happy to work on it further when the required gigs are purchased. I’ve then stated that the work for the original order is now complete. I’ve never had a problem doing that but I think I’ve been lucky when it comes to problem buyers.

I would just do my best, delivered the modified work to the best of my ability and say “this is the best I can do” when I redeliver I may also include that they will need to order another gig/extra/etc. for any additional work.
