Despite competition from flashy tech gadgets and the popularity of online video, book and eBook sales continue to rise at unprecedented rates. Book publishing is currently a $119 billion global industry. eBook sales make up 18% of that number, and they’re expected to grow 3.6% in 2020. In 2018, the most recent year for which data is available, 1.68 million self-published books were released in the U.S. alone. That was a 40% bump from the previous year.
