That’s a huge risk. Just show them work you’ve done for other clients, that’s what they mean by “samples.” You don’t have to create anything new for them, they just want to see your writing style.

Nope. Almost every single sample I’ve ever given out has been stolen. If someone asks for a cryptocurrency articke sample, I can guarantee that it will be published on one or more crappy new crypto blogs in a matter of hours.

I do not give samples on Fiverr for 3 very simple reasons:

  • Giving samples rarely (if ever) results in a sale.
  • All my past work belongs to my clients and as most samples get stolen, that makes me look like I’m selling the work they’ve paid for to other people.
  • People who ask for writing samples have no idea what they want and because of this, always make difficult buyers.

I’m also the equivalent of a Pro writer on two other platforms. There, people don’t message me or even place orders. I log in, if there are writing tasks available, I can choose to complete them. If clients like my work, they leave a review saying so.

Fiverr buyers asking me for samples is a waste of my time. If I have no Fiver orders, I can go complete a few writing tasks elsewhere and save myself the trouble of trying to satisfy a buyer who doesn’t know what they want, probably has a God awful business going nowhere, and has a severe entitlement complex.

There is no risk in not giving samples. Saying no just lets me focus more on clients and opportunities that matter more.

Interesting take on Samples and I have to agree.

I am in music (but have written) and people ask for samples of my musical work but I know that most often they don’t listen to them enough to have even asked for them. If someone listens to 10 seconds of a track they are either a great judge of a musician or they have a) no idea what they want or b) have a far too rigid idea - usually based on wanting a clone of an existing work which is of course not doable or even wise.

Besides, if you have any sort of decently made Gig with a Gallery, that should suffice.

🙂

Brother Eoin, your move 😀

I’ve always believed that photos taken in such a way that viewers are able to look up the nose of the subject aren’t flattering. As such, your “up-nose” photo really doesn’t portray you in a strong light.

Okie 😀

Let’s leave it at that

Oh dear. Almost made it 24-hours without being flagged, but then went and spoiled it all by playing the “I’m significantly more wealthy than all of you” card with a dash of ridicule.

Maybe tomorrow… 🤞

I think it had more to do with messing with a witch. :woman_mage:

(As for the witch/black magic/whatever thing, I think MissC knows what I think of that. I think she is one of the smartest women out there and I’m a well wisher 😃 )

I remember Emma posted that video as a response to a similar moment back in the day. Still love it as a sketch tho.

I’ve always thought of lonewolf as a friend and always will.

Il est très amusant. 😄

I enjoy the chats about his investments, just part of the amusing nature of a smart, nice guy.

I like The wolf too. 🐺

I really love your hair! Your skin looks awesome too.

It’s not fair, what’s your secret to that glowing skin?? 😮

I use grape seed oil on my face in summer and a cream mixture of hemp oil, Shea butter, and a few other organic ingredients in winter. I make it myself.

No chemicals? I’m very impressed! You’ve inspired me to mix up my own.

I’ve never heard of hemp oil for the skin. I like jojoba oil. What a great idea. I also would mix in some calendula as a calming ingredient. I’m going to research hemp oil. I can see why grape seed oil would be excellent for skin. You have some good ideas.

I’ve been reading a lot about the various chemicals in skin products and it’s frightening.

Lol, maybe the organic skin creams would help Lonely Wolf and Eoin’s skin too?

I researched the hemp oil cream recipe on the internet because I got tired of buying a $26 for 4 ounces bottle of organic cream I liked. I looked at the ingredients and found a similar recipe online I like. There are articles that say which oils are best for whichever kind of skin you have. Jojoba was another one mentioned.

Here’s an idea, give half a sample.

Why? I can give someone 20-full samples and they still won’t order.

People ask for samples because for 2 reasons.

Reason 1. They are resellers looking to vet sellers FOC, or they want samples to add to their own portfolio that they can show to their own clients.

Reason 2. They are 100% honest people starting a new business and they want to check a writer’s style.

Asking to check a writer’s style might sound reasonable. However, it’s pointless. In any one day, I can write a humorous/cheeky sales copy for a lingerie brand, before moving onto a serious, technically worded crypto or Forex trading article. I have no one style. It is up to a buyer to define the style/tone of their article.

I can give several samples to a buyer. In the vast majority of cases, they will not be happy because they want something more specific to their niche, or more funny, less serious, more feminine, more masculine, more targeted at 20-something males with a college degree who like dining out and having the latest gadgets, etc.

The second type of buyer is basically someone who wants a 110% guarantee that they will be happy with a delivery, and this usually means they want to see something exactly like what they have in their mind’s eye before they order. - They just can’t describe what’s in their mind’s eye.

These buyers are communication heavy and rarely actually place orders.

In my time on Fiverr I have:

  • Hosted a dedicated portfolio site with 20+ articles which I used to link buyers to. - Almost all samples were stolen.
  • Provided samples fom my own blog. - These were stolen.
  • Created PDF versions of website landing pages and blog pages that I have written copy for to give as samples. - In every case, buyers ask for a Word version or a direct website link.

By comparison, clients on other sites I work on don’t ask for samples and always specify what kind of style and tone of article they want upfront.

This makes my job easier and completely eliminates never-ending discissions with impossible to please people who are also generally a pain to work with. I literally lose nothing by not offering samples, but stress-induced migraines.

Completely unrelated to the topic, but the sliding scales are a great touch. Makes me wish Fiverr would offer something similar when building a gig’s requirements.
