Should I ask for a review?

Fiverr asks very clearly for a review when the buyer completes the order. So if the buyer hasn’t left a review by now, they probably won’t anyway. Also, some buyers might consider it spamming if you start sending them messages about reviews.

What I do is to gently suggest that leaving a review would be appreciated in my delivery message. It goes something like this:

“Please let me know if any changes are needed before leaving your review, and I’ll do my very best to help you out. Thanks!”

Keep in mind that asking specifically for a positive, or five-star review, is not ok, and against the terms on Fiverr.

Thank you everyone. So, I am not going to ask for a review as I don’t want to shorten my career of Fiverr.

Hey!! I wouldn’t ask for a review either if you didn’t originally… Just another thought for you to consider for the future - when I complete an order I will write in my last message to the customer thanking them for their order and mentioning that I would love a review from them if they have time! … So it’s just a small nudge in the write direction without being pushy. Good luck to you! 😄

Don’t worry about it . From my last 4 order they are all automatically completed and they are happy with my service but didn’t left a feedback .Though it really helps for sellers as the proof of their good work but doesn’t matter if you are always main the main facts of fiverr in which you can increasing you chances for getting orders.

From what I have read on the Forum, it may be dangerous even to mention the word review in your delivery message; this is why I stopped long ago and my review percentage is 82% and has been for a long time.

In addition, some buyers like to remain anonymous so they never leave reviews. 🤫

Interesting. I remember something about a particular rule regarding asking for positive reviews, but as I understood it, it was perfectly fine to ask the buyer to leave a review. If you try to write “five-star” or “positive” in the messages, that can trigger a warning regarding this, but I’ve never seen that happen simply by using the word “review”. Still best to air on the side of caution.

I have a Fast Response for deliveries. At the end of the last paragraph, it states that if you are satisfied with your purchase, please consider leaving feedback on the page that appears after your accept your order, and that it helps out the community. Easy peasy. My % for people leaving feedback is about 63%, though I’ve been told anything over 50% is good.

Same thing I’m doing. I would think that is both within the terms, and also ethically fine. My feedback rate is 58%, so I’m not very happy with it, but I have a lot of repeat buyers, and I get why they would think it’s a hassle going through the review process every time they complete an order.

I notice that, too. I only have 2 repeat buyers who repeatedly leave feedback (and I know one of them is also a seller, so…) Can’t do too much about it, I don’t think. Certainly can’t bribe them with a Starbucks card for a five star review like my dentist does.

It Should be okay to kindly and politely ask the client to leave you a rating or feedback based on their experience on the service you’ve rendered. Do not pressure or push them into giving you positive or 5 star reviews. When you Always keep it professional and offer your customers an excellent experience through positive customer service, in most cases you wouldn’t need to ask . Customers will be eager to share that experience with positive reviews and ratings.

Maybe it should be, but it’s not. You might still receive a warning from Fiverr if you do this. They hate when sellers ask buyers to leave reviews.

Makes me think it might not be worth both the risk and effort 😉

Well Yeah You make a valid point. To be on the safer side, I agree; one should never ask for reviews at all.

To put this issue to rest. :sleeping_bed: I wrote to CS to ask if we are allowed to ask for nonspecific reviews. I told them that it was a source of controversy on the Forum and that we would appreciate knowing the truth of the matter and that I planned to post the answer here.

Here is the email I received.

This link is to the article on feedback that Amy mentions.
https://sellers.fiverr.com/en/article/feedback

Note Amy said it should be of the buyer’s free will.

So, I would say this shows why buyers who do not like being asked/reminded for a third time to leave feedback report sellers to CS who do so.

As far as I know, from what I’ve read on the forum, any mention at all of a review is forbidden and may get you a warning.

I had a buyer who tried to discuss his review with me and I absolutely would not respond to him at all. So my suggestion is to never mention or talk about reviews, including even mentioning them to customer support.

I even suspect the word “review” may trigger an alarm of some kind.

You’re right it’s kind of weird. I wonder if Fiverr has been threatened with lawsuits over reviews or something. They FLIP OUT at even the sight of the word “review.”
