Fiverr referral link - but directly to my profile?

Hi all. I did a quick search on the forums, but I couldn’t find the answer to this.

Is there an option where I can have a referral link directly to my public profile?

If not, no worries. I’m sharing my Fiverr experience on a forum I frequent and wanted to take advantage of the referral option as much as possible. We have a lot of readers who buy from other freelance sites and are curious about trying Fiverr.

It looks like Fiverr is filled with talented people so it’s going to be hard to get noticed. If I’m going to get a good taste of what Fiverr can do for me and earn enough for that new camera, I’ll probably have to bring in my own audience.

I was searching the FAQ for information.

After reading the link, I’m still wondering about linking direct to my profile. It looks like I have to use the referral link but that only takes the potential customer to the front page. So I can’t get a referral kickback if I send them to my profile. Does this sound like a correct interpretation?

The only way to make sure you and your friends are rewarded is to make sure your friends are registering with your unique link.

If your idea is that your friend would use your referral link order from you for say $5 and then both you and the friend get $5 each and you get the $4 from the order then no, that isn’t going to happen.
Fiverr isn’t giving anyone the opportunity to earn $14 from $5.

No you can’t. You can’t use your gig to promote your affiliate sales. That would be unethical because people would do that to get referrals from sales to their own accounts instead of using it to drive new business to Fiverr. Plus, people visiting your gig don’t want to see an ad. That wouldn’t be fair to them and would make you look super sketchy, anyway.

What you’re supposing isn’t effective affiliate marketing, anyway. I suggest you read up on the subject to see how these sales happen and how to be an ethical affiliate.

I expected that I wouldn’t get a kickback on my own listings. I’ve never seen an affiliate system that does - so I assumed it was obvious that it wouldn’t work like that.

It seemed like a good gateway to drive traffic to fiverr: ask for thoughts on how to improve my gigs, then since they are here, maybe they see something they like from another seller and they are hooked. Fiverr gets a new customer and I get the referral bonus. But I can see why they don’t do this as it would leave room for confusion.

That’s right. You can’t get a kickback.

By the way the reason you have to use your unique link is because it puts a cookie on the viewer’s computer if they are enabled. That cookie is what tracks if the sale takes place. It would be programmed to not allow you to make an affiliate commission off your own gigs.

Yep, I’ve read that. I would add, however, that it depends on the audience and the individual doing the promoting.

I have a method works well with my following - talk about my experience with a site/product, and ask for advice, ask them questions that gets them to the site and hooked and buying.

But it’s not a technique that works for everyone. My audience is pretty niche and not easily influenced through the regular social media methods.

By “via Fiverr” I mean while logged into your Fiverr account, using your account to send messages and link to your affiliate URL, like linking to your affiliate URL in a Fiverr message in your account or putting your affiliate URL on a gig or Profile page. You can’t do that.

I never even thought of that. People here already know what Fiverr is and they don’t know who I am.

Well, if someone wanted to do that, having it on their Profile wouldn’t only mean purchases from existing users. They can’t anyway.

I have have experience with both sides of affiliate marketing. That’s why I’m taking the time to ask questions about this referral system before trying it out in the world.

It was a rhetorical question, slightly poking fun at wasting time marketing to a customer base that (mostly) doesn’t qualify for affiliate returns,especially when one is an unknown entity in the community. The joke seems to have fallen flat. Sorry.
