Acknowledging illustrators

I have recently published a children’s book with beautiful illustrations done by an illustrator on fiverr. I had an agreement that i have the rights to this work but I was wondering whether we can (with the illustrators permission) credit the work to them in some way in the book.
The work that was done is beautiful and I plan to do a series with him doing the work and he has a real gift.
Has anybody done this, or know how that would stand legally?

How kind of you for wanting to credit the person who did your illustrations!

You often see "Illustrated by: " or "Illustrations by: " In books. I think this should be fine and is a nice signal for the person who did the illustrations for you. I’d personally see it as a very kind offer so I would not refuse but always better to ask him if he’s okay with it like you planned.
