Just a quick copyright question

Can I publish a book without copyright allowing anyone to reproduce it?

I do not wish to sell my book. I wish to place it in the public domain free for all to read

If you wrote the book, yes. However, if you include excerpts from other peoples work or are republishing a non-public domain book, no.

There is also no logical sense writing your own book, only to immediately make it public domain. All you do in this case, is risk someone else taking your book, before reproducing it and selling it for profit themselves.

You can give books away for free on platforms like Smashwords without surrendering your copyright. In this case, your question seems a little confusing. :thinking:
