However, if you include excerpts from other peoples work or are republishing a non-public domain book, no.There is also no logical sense writing your own book, only to immediately make it public domain. All you do in this case, is risk someone else taking your book, before reproducing it and selling it for profit themselves.You can give books away for free on platforms like Smashwords without surrendering your copyright.
