Bad system for pausing gigs

Why does Fiverr cut you off if you haven’t logged on in a few days, pausing gigs? I assumed I’d get an email if I got a gig, not that I’d have to log in all the time and if I didn’t be told I was ignoring the website.

I’m offering audio mastering on top-end equipment for next to nothing just for the hell of it, half website curious half to see what comes my way, and after 4 days of nada, fiver pauses the gig and emails me, which I ignore because it looks like more junk, I’ve had my gig offline for almost a week. That’s not right.

Sure if someone can’t fulfill a gig and there’s no response, or if after a warning which gives you a few days, but to just cut someone off. Not impressed, I’ll probably take my mastering abilities elsewhere to be honest, this looks like a load of fluff.

What’s not right is you ignoring Fiverr’s email (which probably contains info on why they paused your gig and what you should do to re-activate it) and presuming that it was “junk.” :man_facepalming:

Cheapskate 3rd world classifieds. I’m out of here. There was no warning, just an email saying it had been paused, with 10 junk emails before, that’s my point. If there was an e-mail saying I had gotten a gig, I’d have been on it, but all that other stuff, good luck to you.

From my experience, most freelance platforms do pause gigs (or their equivalent) when users don’t log in repeatedly. (Though, most also notify sellers via email beforehand.)

I actually don’t get any Fiverr emails or notifications as I find them annoying and have several spam filters in place. Occasionally, this results in emails from other platforms getting archived. Possibly, Fiverr did send you an email, but either this got marked as spam by a filter you have in place for something else, or you have some kind of cyber gremlin in your inbox.

In either case, I would guess that simply logging into Fiverr and unpausing your gigs manually would remedy the situation. If not, you could always drop them an email.

I don’t know how many times a seller has to log in to keep their account active. However, it is worth logging in at least once a day and (if you are at your desk etc) keeping a Fiverr tab open in your browser. A lot of buyers look for sellers who appear as online before messaging or ordering.

Fiverr did notify you with an email.

What’s not right is you ignoring Fiverr’s email

Am I the only one slightly bewildered by the tone here?

Fiverr rewards ACTIVITY, not mere “presence”…
I’ve been on Fiverr for overr Five yearrs.
I’ve done close to USD$200,000 in sales.
But Fiverr now has me listed as a “Level One” Seller.
Early on, I was a Top-Rated Seller since I’ve done more than 2,300 gigs and have over 1,300 5-star reviews. But since I’m on the “expensive” side, I don’t get slammed with orders. It’s down to one a week, these days. Therefore, I got “demoted” since my ACTIVITY level isn’t what they’d like it to be.
Fiverr wants you to generate MONEY, even if only a few dollars.
They don’t make anything if you don’t make anything.
And if you’re not trying hard, they don’t want you taking up valuable space.
Always remember that.

This doesn’t seem to be what has happened here. YES, they sent him an email, and it is visible in the OP’s screenshot. The very first email shown (in the screenshot) was the one sent by Fiverr stating that the OP’s gigs have been paused (as mentioned in the title of the email).

Despite that, the OP presumed it was spam and decided not to even check the mail (as stated by the OP in their original post). I don’t see how the tone of my prev. post had you bewildered. It is not like the email got sent to the OP’s spam folder or w/e. The OP intentionally decided to ignore the email (which is bewildering to me).

It is possible that it was sent to the spam folder (which the OP later moved to the inbox). But, I don’t think that’s what happened because of what the OP said: ⬇️

fiver pauses the gig and emails me, which I ignore because it looks like more junk

😳

I don’t know how many times a seller has to log in to keep their account active.

If at all there is a time period/duration within which a seller has to login at least once to keep their account/gigs from becoming inactive, it is definitely at least a couple of years long. I have come across a few posts on the forum where sellers have said that they’d logged onto their old Fiverr account after two or three years of inactivity (to give Fiverr another shot).

Yes. The seller obviously has had an email. How dare they ignore it.Tut Tut…

I believe that what the OP was trying to say, was that they never received an email like the following:

Since (from my experience) most platforms send such an email before actually pausing gigs/accounts, I can understand how the OP could be upset/confused, especially so soon after joining.

Anyway, not to worry. Since they have been outed as a bewildering liar by the friendly neighbourhood Fiverr community, I doubt they will be back.

First impressions and all…

I never once called the OP that (neither did the other posters) or insinuated that in any way. Please don’t accuse others of something they haven’t done… yet. 😉

Besides, could it be possible that the OP’s gigs were paused — not due to inactivity but because they were being reviewed by Fiverr for a possible ToS violation or something? Oh, well. I guess we will never know considering the OP probably never read the email (very bewildering… Tut… Tut… Tut) and didn’t log onto Fiverr either (to see if they’ve received any notifications)!

Well, we’ll never know. Maybe next time someone could ask.

You did say you were bewildered by the OPs behavior and this:

Fiverr did notify you with an email. And most likely they wrote a reason why they paused it.

But YOU ignored an email and that’s why your gig wasn’t active for a week. Don’t blame fiverr on the action that YOU didn’t take

Makes it clear that Fiverr DID send an email and the OP decided to IGNORE it.

At the time this was said, the OP had denied receiving an email and not shared a screenshot of their email inbox. Dodging around the fact that some sellers seem to have the ability to know exactly what email notifications other sellers have received from Fiverr, this does sound like an accusation that the OP is being untruthful.

I’m not the only who has interpreted this thread this way. The OP did and I know others did.

My point is that it doesn’t cost anything to be friendly and NOT presume everything about someone’s situation. It is clear that some long-time forum users feel the need to defend Fiverr to the last breath. However, in cases like this, it really just goes overboard and looks bad.

No one tried to find out more about the OPs problem. There was immediate shouting in caps and an accusation of wrongdoing. If you think this kind of behavior enhances the camaraderie of the forum and makes Fiverr looks good to newbies, I guess we’ll just have to agree to disagree.

True. I was bewildered by the fact that they intentionally ignored the email and went on to claim that Fiverr has a “bad system” in place (which I do not agree). Had the buyer not shifted the blame sqarely on Fiverr’s existing system, my response might have been different.

Since they have been outed as a bewildering liar by the friendly neighbourhood

But, a LIAR? No way.

At the time this was said, the OP had denied receiving an email and not shared a screenshot of their email inbox.

This is not true. The OP had already mentioned in their original post that they had received an email from Fiverr (which they chose to ignore). ⬇️

fiver pauses the gig and emails me

presume everything about someone’s situation.

I NEVER once presumed anything about the OP’s situation. The OP said that they intentionally ignored Fiverr’s email and presumed that the email sent was junk and presumed that their inactivity was the reason for their gigs having been paused.

Guess who was being very presumptive? Hint: neither me nor the other posters.

My point is that it doesn’t cost anything to be friendly

I agree. Only a small percentage of my posts are “not-very-friendly”… and rightfully so (in my opinion).

If the OP is being very presumptive and places the blame squarely on someone else (when, in fact, they’re to blame), I don’t see any reason for posting a friendly response. I am sorry. Unfortunately, I didn’t deem the OP worthy of a friendly response. 😿

But, maybe there are some people who can look past the OP’s presumptive attitude and their ability to shift the blame onto others with ease. Kudos to them! 🙂
