woofy31
I used Suitcase Fusion for a couple of years but I got sick of it for being so slow and clunky, so I’ve moved to FontExpert since it’s uber-super fast! However, I do miss a lot of essential features from Suitcase Fusion. As for the last question, my go-to fonts are:for body text: Georgia, Myriad Pro & Adobe Caslonfor titles: Helvetica, Museo, Cera Pro, Trajan & Yanone Kaffeesatzand any handwritten font where applicable

simplybright
I am a font junkie. My boyfriend can’t stand me sometimes because I recognize a lot of fonts while we’re just walking around - “I have that font. I know what that one is. Oh I have that one too!”I buy a lot of font bundles as they’re going to be the best bang for your buck. I also have a monthly subscription to Creative Fabrica that gives me unlimited font downloads. A lot of the fonts on DaFont are on there which is A+ because my clients give me dafont links ALL THE TIME.I do a lot of tshirt designs catered to women, so handwritten scripts are an essential for me. Favorites include alley script, honey heart, natashabela, aerokids, and southwind script. Fonts that have a lot of glyphs are the ones that intrigue me the most.

I find calligraphy hard & complex to be honest 👀What is the difference between a typeface and a font?A font is of a particular size, weight and style, whereas a typeface is the collection of those fonts, all related under a particular look & feel. The confusion comes from the fact that most people use the term “font” interchangeably although almost all the time they are actually talking about the typeface (Arial, Helvetica, Georgia, etc.), and not about a particular size/style/weight.For example, Arial Regular, Bold & Italic are the different fonts, grouped together under the Arial typeface (if you get a Zip archive containing the different Arial fonts, you might even go as far as calling that zip archive the actual typeface file, although the typeface is more of a group)Or this if I was too technical 👀Typeface is a “Father/Mother” and Font are “Children” of the Typeface. ☀️As for sans/serif/slab-serif, the way I learned them is:serif is that classic-looking font commonly used in books since it’s easily readable and has been with us from the beginning of time (serif = all those little feet placed at the corners / edges of a letter shape)sans means “without”, so it’s all those fonts that don’t have any serifs attached to them (I’ve read somewhere that sans fonts were invented not long ago, and they weren’t really accepted by people in the past)slab-serif, well, slab = thick, so it’s all those fonts that have thick / angled / block-like serifs

I know they have different purposes but is there one that stands out? That’s one of the hardest questions ever 😃But if my life depended on it, I’d go with the elegant & tried-and-tested by time, the Georgia typeface - it’s just emanates perfection, elegance, classic touch, it has a unique finesse! Cost me 100 EUR. But it’s the love of my life, the perfect font for me. It’s bold, yet compact and it looks amazing for the kind of work that I do.I also love to hunt for $5-$10 fonts on CreativeMarket or Behance. There are a lot of hidden gems there and you can contact the author directly to run any kind of usage by them. Behance also offers a lot of freebies that are pretty amazing. The first font I ever bought was Baron Neue but I fell out of love with it almost immediately after and used it maybe once or twice. Separate letters look nice and all but when you type a few words it’s a bit messy and unbalanced for my eye.If I need to type in plain text I use Google Fonts. Montserrat is probably my favorite. It’s kind of cheap-ish if you use all caps but in lowercase it looks pretty fancy.
sanda5
readabilityone big point I have while designing. After a client provides details I do create a design and send them and using a font suitable for readability…but the client’s (only about 25%) end up specifying something that doesn’t match. Sometimes I tell them this font won’t work… but they don’t listen…after printing and other’s seeing it… they come back saying we should have gone with the one you had first… :man_facepalming: I just keep quiet… no point arguing when “I have told you so”
topaz_muse
Just looking over this reminds me of the Not My Type typography animations by lycettebros on YouTube. It’s about typographic characters (no pun intended) being in interesting situations. I remember my teachers getting a case of the giggles when they were trying to share these videos with the class.
johndonovan853
Hello everyone. I use fontsly.com to download fonts for my PC. I prefer Sans Serif fonts and sometimes add some decorative, hadwritten or comic fonts. Everything depends on the project. Also, I like to use big weight fonts for ehadlines and subheadings.
