Edit Bug eliminates Gig Description! [SOLVED: Try deleting any emoji you have in your description!]

I’ve just tried to edit a Gig.

I’ve tried several times to save it, via all the different “Save” buttons with the same result:
My description is gone.
There’s the gig image, below that the Basic/Standard/Premium Gig comparison, then right away the FAQ. No description. 😕

Before that, I wanted to add a custom extra, every try to save it led to a warning popup about illegal characters in the gig extra title. There was no “illegal” character, just two normal words, no numbers, no punctuation, no nothing but normal English letters, well within the character limit too.

UPDATE: Okay, I found the reason. There was an emoji in the gig description. After deleting that emoji, the description got saved and displayed again. However - it’d be nice if it would have told me there’s an “illegal character” in my gig description where it was and not in my gig extra title where none were.

Now to see if I can save the gig extra where it did talk about illegal characters …

Please can you tech people put those warnings where they belong? That would be helpful! 🙂

No, as I wrote, I tried all available buttons, several times. But see my update above …

I did use emojis in gig descriptions before, it used to be no problem. This seems to be new. I wonder if I still have some in gigs I haven’t deleted earlier, guess I better check all gigs, not that some don’t have a description anymore now …

Same here, i am editing my gig (gallery only) but whenver i press save, it shows an error saying emojis are not supported, but i didn't use any. It comes everytime i try to save. Please Help!

Do not use a contraction word which is an abbreviated version of a word or words. Contractions can be formed by replacing missing letters with an apostrophe (e.g., you're, it's) These words seem to trigger the "emoji" bug.

I’ve been having this same issue since yesterday. I tried removing characters as benlaaroussii suggested and it’s still not working. Reached out to Fiverr support but haven’t heard back yet. Could this be a bug?

Just tried creating a brand new gig (different service than the first), and it’s still giving me the same error message!

You didn't solve anything because I am currently using these "-_  & *....) characters on my description page. I was able to update all my gig pages by removing the contraction words. Not all characters are invalid. Test them one at a time. Removing all those characters are unnecessary and will encourage others to do so and lose the understanding of their descriptions.

Having this problem as well, and I have no emojis in my description, removed all contractions, even removed parenthesis --- still claiming that it has emojis. How's this for an emoji ---> 🤬 LOL smh.

Hi everyone! I faced this warning a few minutes ago while editing one of my gigs. I wasn't using any emojis and still I had this line under the description box:
Emojis aren't supported in Gig descriptions. Please remove them in order to save them.

Eventually, after reviewing each line and being sure that there were no emojis or strange symbols inside the box, I've a solution to this:

1. Copy and paste the text somewhere else;
2. Delete all the lines inside the description box;
3. Re-type manually all the description.

It worked for me 🧐

This solved my problem. Thank you, Michele! I already wrote to the Customer Support, it might be a bug or something.
