How is your August Sales?

Does anyone have any ideas why a certain month for instance July or August is better in terms of how well you did?

Did you work faster? Did you stay online more? Did you answer messages faster?

Did your gigs have a better position in the ranks?

For my gigs the list format was excellent. I don’t know why but mine were near the top.

In July they had that message on gigs that showed if you had purchased a gig in the past. It said “Buy again” I think.

I had a larger number of repeat buyers due to that and they made larger orders than new buyers.

Does anyone know if that message is still on gigs that says “buy again”?

July was one of the best months for me this year. However, August was just an average.

In August, my gigs went down even though I got some bigger order and had no cancellation at all… Overall, I performed well but I wonder why my gig was moved to second page from the first page.

“Buy again”

I never noticed it but it would surely be a great idea. However, at the same time, Fiverr wants to promote new sellers and “Buy it again” tag somewhat encourages buyers to buy again from the old sellers so they might have removed it now.

My July was the best all year. I have been trying to understand why and see why sales dropped in August. I did put in extra hours online but it was necessary due to higher sales volume. At least half my buyers were old buyers from a while back.

I’ve chatted with a few other sellers who noticed the same things, that July was excellent then August slowed down.

Fiverr is still showing the very targeted advertisements where they show the last gig you looked at and say “looking for this?” only now it was on a random website. It came up as I was searching for things on google.

I am not sure about it but I guess the system encountered many glitches this month. For example, gig editing issues, favorite count error (fixed now), reviews vanished from some sellers profile/gig. I had some personal issues with my account like inbox always shows a red dot and 4 unread messages even I have no unread message, problem with stats on my analytics page, problem with my dashboard etc… I contacted CS twice but the “Support” didn’t turn out to be “Support”. They can just refresh our accounts and if it doesn’t fix the issues, they will do nothing 😑 I stopped asking them to fix the issues thinking that they may be resolved automatically after the upcoming Site Maintenance.

Did you know the logic behind showing the reviews from last 60 days?

I can’t think of the reason for it. It seems pretty obvious it’s not going to encourage sales. Everyone seems to be a newer seller. Fiverr is an old well established site and those reviews prove that. Lots of reviews instill confidence. Seeing fewer reviews on every gig makes people assume fiverr is new, or makes buyers unsure or not getting the facts they need to make a buying decision.

I am creating a new post to expose one important reason behind this update.

I think it depends on your service. I can’t speak for your category, but at least for web development there are slow months.

If you’re targeting eCommerce sites then it usually gets busier before holidays. I have a client who reaches out to me every November to prepare for Xmas sales. New landing pages, analytics etc.

If you’re targeting service provides then it depends on when the service is provided. For example, I have a few clients that offer lawn care & window cleaning services. They usually reach out to me before summer time to prepare new campaigns and during winter there’s complete silence.

So I constantly need to think at least a few months ahead and pick my clients based on how they fit into my schedule in long term. Not every clients becomes a repeat customer, but it’s good to keep that in mind.

Now, I know the same strategy can’t be used on every category. It might work for writing and design gigs. For example, when it gets busy for me I reach out to the content writers and designers I trust.

Do other sellers besides me get fewer sales on weekends? That did not happen in July for some reason. But sales usually dry up on weekends.

I think, it depends upon the nature of your clients. I design presentations for executives, trainers etc so they are mostly off on the weekend. So I usually don’t have to communicate with clients on weekend just work on the projects if there is any pending.
