1. How do I access extra tools in a forum post?

A. If you are logged into the forum, some forum tools are accessed by open up more option in a forum post. Anytime you see a reference to access the extra forum tools, remember to try this if you don’t see it.

Extra forum tools are found by clicking on the 3 dots at the bottom of a post:

More Common Issues/Questions about the Forum:

1. What are some genuine reasons to flag a post or comment on the forum?

A: If you see a user who has violated the forum rules or general guidelines or if a user has done something inappropriate, you can flag a post so a moderator can look at the issue.

B: When you click the flag button (see image below) you will see a list of flag reasons. You should only flag if your issue fits one of these reasons. Disliking a user or a post is not a reason to flag. Flagging for revenge or other inappropriate reasons is against the rules. Now, if you do need to flag, remember to access the extra forum tools first as described in question #1 in the above post. The flag button then looks like this:

image

C: After you click the Flag, the reasons will show up like this:

image.png.9a8f0505d1e53328976d036e93651dc8.png

D: The first 3 are fairly simple.

It’s Off-Topic generally means that the thread/new post is in the wrong category or that the comment in a thread is going off-topic. This is more important if the comment is disruptive or provocative, since some off-topic comments are not a big issue.

It’s Inappropriate usually means that the post or comment has violated the forum rules or general guidelines or that the post is a direct violation of the Fiverr ToS.

It’s Spam usually means that the post or comment includes an off-Fiverr ad or unapproved link, a gig/proifle link in a category outside My Fiverr Gigs or a duplicate post. (Posting the same thing more than once is a form of spam.)

Something Else is available if you feel certain that a moderator needs to review the post or comment but the user doesn’t fit the other three. When you choose Something Else you can type in a message for the moderators.

What is Discobot?image.jpg.a5e49bb93527aa3fe6bc73c00e6a29b3.jpg

A: The Fiverr forum uses the Discourse Forum ® software. You can learn more about Discourse on their own site. The fine people at Discourse created a fun little bot that lives on some Discourse forums and the Fiverr forum has a Discobot too! Don’t freak out if you encounter Discobot - it’s not a hacker and you aren’t being spammed - it’s just a little bot. :robot:

Discobot doesn’t do a lot right now, but it can be used for a little fun and some forum “easter eggs.” Discobot shows up as a regular user, so you can look at the Discobot profile if you wish. Just be warned, you can talk to Discobot too, like any other user, but it’ll try to talk back so don’t let it scare you!

Once you are sure you have a Fiverr account set up, go back to the above article for instructions on logging into the forum.

Q. What if I know I had a Fiverr and forum account, but I cannot login to the forum anymore?

A:

Step One: The first thing you might want to do is to make sure that your Fiverr account is still active. Go to fiverr.com/login and make sure you are already logged in or that you can log in. If you cannot login to Fiverr anymore, there may be an issue with your Fiverr account. Sellers or Buyers who no longer have an active Fiverr account do not normally retain access to the forum, so you can only view the forum as a guest if your Fiverr account has been banned or deleted.

Step Two: If you can log in to Fiverr but you are having trouble logging into the forum, go to your forum profile page to see the status of your forum account. To do this, replace username in this URL with your Fiverr username and then paste the link into your browser: https://forum.fiverr.com/u/yourusername

For example, the forum profile for the Discourse forum admin is: https://forum.fiverr.com/u/discourse1

  • If you do not see a forum profile for your username:

If you do NOT see a forum profile for your Fiverr username even though you have a Fiverr account, go through thelogin steps again as shown here.

  • If you do see a forum profile and a suspension notice with a restoration date/time:

If you DO see a forum profile for your Fiverr username, see if you have any special messages on your forum profile. If your account has been temporarily suspended, you should see a message and a date when you can access the forum again, something like this:

image.png.36737a1687ec1e3fe40d6002786584f2.png
  • If you do not see a forum profile and a suspension notice with no date/time:

If your account has been permanently banned for forum rule violations, ToS violations or other specific actions that happened with your account, you will see a suspended message without a date like this:

image.png.67b9935d4c524158aa65362150006b95.png
  • If you do not see a forum profile for your username, there is no suspension message but you cannot login:

If your account has been blocked for another reasons, such as nonsense posting as a new user, spamming as a new user, or posting blocked messages repeatedly as a new user, you may not see any suspension message. If you are certain that you have a Fiverr account in good standing and you see a forum profile with no warning message but you cannot log in, you should contact Fiverr Customer Supoprt, tell them that you cannot login to the forum and ask them to check with the forum moderator team to ask about the status of your forum account. They may need several days to get back with you, so be very patient.

Q. Are users given warnings before they are suspended from the forum?

A: You should definitely become familar with:

:flag_black: The forum rules and general guidelines. and Fiverr ToS Here is a general overview of the forum moderation system:

  • The forum is managed by a team of staff and volunteer moderators. The volunteer moderators are buyers and sellers just like other forum users.
  • The forum is also managed through a set of automated tools that come with the Discourse ®️ forum software.***
  • When a post, thread or comment is flagged for moderation, one or more members of the moderation team reviews the flag. If the flag is deemed to have merit, you will usually receive a notice about the flag and the reason for the flag. The flag notification system may not work if your notification settings or email settings filter them out. One flag is usually not enough to cause you to be suspended, banned or blocked, but exceptions are made in severe cases.
  • If you receive multiple flags for your forum activity or if your forum activity is a very serious violation, you will usually receive a warning from a moderator or staff member. One warning can be enough to cause a suspension, block, or ban, but most typically users are not disciplined unless they receive 2 or more warnings.
  • If you have been warned more than twice, your forum activity may be monitored more closely. Once you have received multiple warnings or a suspension you may by suspended or banned again by violating even a minor rule.
  • Overall, the moderation system is tiered, meaning that new users start out as forum level 0 users and can earn the trust of other members, moderators and staff. As you spend more time on the forum, you can gain more forum levels and also gain more trust. If you are repeatedly warned for violations, your forum level may be locked at a low level and eventually you may be permanently suspended/blocked/banned.

.*** Automated Tools: Due to the use of automated tools, certain words or actions can trigger automated moderation. This usually will not happen unless you engage in specific types of behavior. The forum activity that can trigger automated blocks includes (but is not limited to):

  • Repeatedly spamming the forum as a new user
  • Repeatedly posting links as a new user
  • Posting duplicates of the same content as a new user
  • Posting trigger words (These are typically either very obscene words or words that have to do with violence)
  • Posting multiple times a few seconds apart, especially if you are a new user
  • Repeatedly posting negative comments about other users by username
  • Posting threats or extremely negative comments regarding other users, moderators, or staff

The above issues are not limited to public posts. Private messages are subject to both automated and manual moderation. Private messages can be flagged by other users or by the automated system. Private messages by be monitored. No data transmission over the internet or information stored on servers accessible through the internet can be guaranteed to be fully secure. These activities are undertaken at your risk

Violations of the rules and guidelines can result in lowered forum access (losing forum levels) to short term or long term suspensions. Controversial discussions are not specifically against the forum rules, but name calling, bashing, baiting or trolling may be considered a reason for restrictions.:For questions or concerns regarding the Fiverr community sites, please contact Customer Support.

TheFiverrCommunityBadges.png.b98abf2cb17c6e894d48aacf290baaae.png

In this series, you’ll learn what are Fiverr forum badges and how to earn them.

What are forum badges?

Badges encourage community camaraderie — a fun way of making our community ‘engaging’ and ‘interactive’. Badges are an integral way for users to ‘take part’ in discussions. Earning badges are just mini rewards from contributing; helping the community thrive; being an outstanding user and setting a positive example for others.

How to earn them?

Forum badges should be earned organically over a period of time and not forced. Please do not attempt to forcibly earn a bunch of badges in a day or two, this can get you in trouble. In fact, some badges will take weeks & in some cases months to achieve. Your contribution should always be fluid and natural. It’s like opening a 🎁, you’ll receive a notification when you’ve reached a badge milestone.

Note: Forum badges will not increase sales, gain impressions, rank in search or put you in the running to become a TRS, Moderator or Fiverr Ambassador. Badges merely show that you are an active member of the community.

How many badges can a user earn?

Click here https://forum.fiverr.com/badges to view the current Forum badges. Additionally, you can click on the hyperlinks to learn more about each one. Feel free to view this page periodically!

❇️ Badges are broken down into categories.

  1. Getting started - You are a new user.

  2. Community - You’ve stuck around long enough.

  3. Posting - You’ve shown the ability to use the basic forum functions.

  4. Trust level - You’ve achieved Basic, Member or Regular badge. Again, this is solely based on your level of activity.

Congratulations! 🎉

Now that you’ve learned how Badges work! It’s time to make our Community better than ever. 🙂

Q: If I should report bugs to Customer Support, what is the Report a Bug forum category for?

A: The Report a Bug forum category is essentially for three purposes.

  • One is to find out if an issue is really a bug or not by reporting it on the forum and learning from the replies.
  • The second is to compare notes with other forum users and see if a supposed bug is a site-wide issue, a limited issue, or just a problem on the user end.
  • The third use for this category is to inform forum users that you have already reported a particular bug to Customer Support. In the case of a serious bug, this may encourage others to report it along with you. In the case of a minor glitch, forum users will know that it has already been reported and can disregard it.

It’s also handy to have a Bug Report category on the forum since users, moderators or staff may know of temporary workarounds.

Q: Speaking of staff, a common question is: Does Fiverr Staff visit the forum?

A: Yes. There are some staff members who work directly with the Community and are the most likely to visit the forum often, but they are usually monitoring the forum and they rarely post. You will occasionallly see a post or comment by a staff member. You can tell that someone is either staff member by their forum badge and title.
Staff badge with title:image.png.1c7d582edb68fbf988ac72ed76f47515.pngimage.png.bfc5f2ab797cfbea39fe3042fa4fe102.png

(If you a see a user with a badge image.png.cf965d284b01c2b4e83a86f5032cc56f.png but no Fiverr Staff title, that person is probably a volunteer moderator.)

In addition to the regular Community-oriented staff members who visit the forum, there are other staff members who may visit more rarely. Developers, Editors, Customer Support representatives and other staff members may stop in to read the Site Suggestions category and to review specific threads as requested by the moderation team. These are staff who usually do not post on the forum, but are around reading from time to time. A large group of staff members have moderator abilities on the forum and can step in to assist with moderation if the volunteers need help.

Q: What are forum Trust Levels?
A: Here is a great staff post about Trust Levels.

Q: I think I meet the criteria for a particular Trust Level but I haven’t been promoted. Why?
A: There are a few reasons this can happen as follows:

  • Some criteria for specific trust levels (especially levels 3 and above) have been customized. Not all of the criteria are visible for these higher levels.
  • A user who is under staff investigation for a fiverr.com ToS warning may be locked at their current trust level.
  • If a user had received many flags, warnings or suspensions their trust level can be locked. For example, a user who has been flagged several times for spam may be locked at a low trust level to limit the number of posts they can make.
  • A user who has been suspended at least once is no longer eligible for trust levels above level 2.
  • Some high trust levels can be achieved only through manual promotion.

Q. I posted a thread or a comment and now I can’t find it. What happened?
A: Here are some possibilities:

1.) If you’ve just lost track of the thread or comment, you may be able to find it in your own Activity log.
Click on your own forum username to go to your forum profile page.
Look for the Activity tab:

image.png.cddbc43b4812ab1921a5a279b4e4878f.png

Click on Activity and you’ll see a list of all your visible posts and comments.

2.) Still can’t find your post or comment? Check your forum notifications to see if you’ve received any notices about it. Up at the top right-hand corner of the screen you’ll see the forum “hamburger” menu and your profile photo. When you click on your profile and the inbox icon, you can see some notifications:

image.thumb.png.fe536667802bf49e4c3888d5cdd019f1.png

3.) If you see a note in your inbox like the one highlighted in blue above, it’s possible that your post or comment was flagged by the automatic system or by forum users. Read the message to learn more. Some messages can be unhidden by editing them to fix the problem, but if the post or comment has been removed/deleted you will be unable to access it due to a problem with that post. Read up on the Forum Rules, Fiverr ToS and a summary of Community Guidelines to avoid this problem.

4.) If you don’t see a flag notice or warning in your forum inbox, you can try your email. If you still don’t find anything, it’s possible that your notification settings or email settings blocked it. If you are certain you made a post or comment and it doesn’t show up in your log as described in #1 above, chances are the post has been removed due to a trigger word (banned words, competitor names, seller/buyer usernames, posting in wrong category, spamming) or due to another rule violation. Be sure you are familiar with the rules before you try again.

Can I mute certain forum users and/or categories?

Yes. Muting a specific user can be done from your Forum Preferences page, as follows:

Step 1. Go to your Forum Preferences page by clicking on your profile photo/icon located at the top-right and then clicking on the ⚙️ gear icon.

Screenshot-22_Feb_2018-00_09_29.jpg.406f457ffca3ee8ded8066b9ae6e286b.jpg

Step 2. Click on the “Notifications” menu on the left side, and you’ll see lower on the page a section titled "Users Muted"

Screenshot-22_Feb_2018-00_18_07.jpg.67c85b13c390f814c90a4378fab2b2af.jpg

Step 3. Start typing the first letters of the member you want to mute and use the dropdown list to select their profile and add them to your Muted users list. Don’t forget to click Save to apply the changes.

Muting a specific category is also done through your Forum Preferences page as follows:

Step 1. Click on the “Categories” submenu below the “Notifications” menu, and you’ll see lower on the page a section titled “Muted”.

Screenshot-22_Feb_2018-00_18_39.jpg.84fbfb4c7679e8291069a7e86153aa71.jpg

Step 3b. Click inside the input box and a dropdown list will show up with all the categories and subcategories of the forum. Click on the ones you want to mute, and don’t forget to save once you’re done.

A FEW REMINDERS:

  • Muting a member will not hide their posts - you will still see what they write and stumble upon their posts, but the forum will not notify you of their posts;

  • Topics pertaining to a muted category will not show up in the New or Latest lists of topics;

  • You will still receive notifications from topics that you are part of, or that you are Watching, even if they are part of a muted category. If you don’t want to be notified any longer, you will have to Mute the topic itself by clicking on the right-side exclamation mark icon and choose “Muted” from the dropdown list

Screenshot-22_Feb_2018-00_32_13.jpg.63940a49697d1162535c88a106bb5e33.jpg
  • If someone @mentions you in a topic that is part of a muted category, you will be notified of the mention - if you don’t want to be notified again, you will have to Mute that particular topic as previously mentioned.

Are there more sellers or more buyers on the forum?

While there is no concise answer, based on the observations of Regular forum members the majority of active forum users are sellers. But then again, sellers can also be buyers, and there’s even a large number of members who don’t contribute to the forum but rather just read it.

So a clear answer would be: there are more active sellers than active buyers. This is because buyers have a workflow that’s less prone to difficulties – they buy and get what they came for.

Sellers, on the other hand, tend to invest more time in Fiverr than buyers do, thus encountering more difficulties & problems that need discussing. Because of that, sellers regularly use the forum to share their experiences, tips & ideas, to get inspiration from other sellers’ experiences, report malfunctions, and keep up to date with any new changes to the platform.

If you’re a seller, ask yourself: when you buy something from an online store, do you also enter its forum even if your buying experience went smooth and you got what you came for? If by any chance you do enter its forum, would you get active and contribute, or just read a bit?

☝️ One thing to keep in mind: If you are a seller and you are posting on the forum, your buyers may be reading even if they don’t participate. You should always assume that buyers, staff, potential Fiverr users and others are reading!

Are games allowed on the forum since they do not relate to Fiverr?

Yes, as long as they are created in the “Conversations” subcategory located here: #Your-Fiverr-Experience:conversations. This subcategory is a more relaxed section where you can talk about non-Fiverr related matters, and games make a good topic as they allow you to meet other forum members in a fun & engaging way, learn new things or find out new stuff, and even relieve stress after a day of hard work.

However, even games can go awry at times, so make sure to stay within the Forum Rules & Guidelines, and don’t stuff the Conversations section with games because it’s not solely dedicated to games.

Have fun!

How do I delete my thread if I wanted to?

Users cannot delete threads once they’ve been published. You can politely ask a Moderator to delete a thread that you’ve started. If you’ve revealed sensitive details or anything pertaining to identity issues etc. We strongly recommend that you state the reason for your thread deletion request. Mods can also 🔒 your thread as per request.

Requesting the removal of a thread can be done by one of the following Moderators.

@eoinfinnegan, @fonthaunt, @annai80, @sue_mcl, @wp_kid. Please keep in mind that Moderators are (volunteers) as well as Sellers, so they might not get back to you straight away. You may want to tag all the mods in a delete request since they live in varied time zones. (Please don’t tag mods for questions that other people can answer - mods have deliveries to make too!)

Alternatively, if you wanted to delete your post(s) you can. We suggest using this feature in moderation. As deleted posts can disrupt the thread discussion; thus making it harder for readers to understand the scope of the topic.

📌 Delete a forum post

At the bottom right of the post, you’ll see these icons.

Click on the three dots (…)

...showmore.png.314475483994dcbfe820cb71e5adde5a.png

Then click on the trashcan icon.

deletepost.png.23b444a54ee91ffc202351fa3d0c9ff0.png

Voila!

You’ll see this message:

If you change your mind, simply click on the undo icon undo.png.ae0239b817f46ab4591c9bca087321e6.png and your post will reappear.

Q: Do I have to be active on the forum in order to become a TRS?

A: No. The great majority of TRS members got their badge without participating on the forum. Fiverr forum is a wonderful place to talk to other sellers and buyers, ask questions, participate in discussions, and have fun, but has nothing to do with whether you become a TRS or not.

Q: Will posting on the forum bring me more sales?

A: In most cases, no. There’s a small chance that a buyer will notice you and buy from you if your posts are really helpful (and not just generic “good tips”, or repeating what someone else said, or spam, or insulting buyers you are angry at), but generally speaking, posting on the forum is unlikely to bring you sales.
