I don’t need to imagine I am working at an ad agency, I have worked for many of them and they are boring places with very few exceptions. They are NOT role models. In fact, companies are starting to ask the general public to pitch in ideas for YouTube videos, TV commercials, slogans, etc, because they’re tired of the corporate crap they typically get.

Fiverr has been moving toward a more professional freelance website for a while now

And how does that help Fiverr? There’s already a TON of boring freelance websites. Besides, not everyone here comes for logos and brand names, some people are here to buy feet pictures, erotic birthday videos, guy talking like a crime lord, etc.

You have a gig like that!

“I Will Record A Tough Guy Voice Over”

Careful! Maybe someone will be triggered by your tough guy voice!

Uh…what does that have to do with anything? I have a gig which is a voice over gig but with a different accent…how is that in any way related to the silly gigs we were discussing? Have you never heard a narration in character? It’s called acting. Are you not able to distinguish between acting, and people holding signs calling for the execution of an entire race of people, or selling pictures of their feet? Why are you so committed to racing to the bottom, as opposed to joining us in the race to the top?

They getting the fun out of Fiverr. The funny gigs were what Fiverr get started in the first place. Now everything has to be business oriented. I think this is ridiculous.

Did you ever see the Pewdiepie video? He got some guys on Fiverr to hold up a sign displaying an anti-semitic message. I think Fiverr is trying to cut down on some of its fun gigs in response to that video. It did make the site look quite unprofessional.

Still, it will be sad seeing some of these gigs go.

Agree on both points. The Jesus guy is kinda funny. But I understand what fiverr is trying to do. Like I said, perhaps they should keep the fun aspects of fiverr and move the VO gigs, writing and proofreading gigs to a sister site, like AND CO. Best for all.

We all saw the Pewdiepie video. The guys got their account back.

There are tons of fun gigs that have their place here in my opinion.

I believe what makes the site most unprofessional are all the scammers and luck seekers in all the other categories. A dive in a pool whilst holding a sign has more effort to it than the copy and pasting of some sellers, who then ask for help on the forum, because their stolen materials don’t sell.

I agree. I’d have preferred it if Fiverr went after those guys before worrying about legitimate sellers.

I think they’re far more of a threat to the site’s rep.

They did. Even though nobody really believed them that they didn’t understand what the sign said.

However, if the entire category is removed, there’s no getting that kind of gigs back, with Pewdiepie’s help or not.

I agree. Pewdiepie mentioned in his video, too, at the beginning (but nobody paid much attention to it after the sign). He basically stated that all the logo designers on Fiverr just steal someone else’s work from DeviantArt, put the client’s brand name on it, and call it original and unique.

🙁

Copy & paste Matt’s post in a ticket to ask how they can help.

Honestly, my guess is they will give you tips & ask you to think about other niches that fit their model.

Can you make other videos catering to companies? (no signage)

we’d love to work with sellers who have been affected to help them meet our community standards.

They can do that without destroying Fiverr. Youtube, Facebook, Twitter, they target companies as well, but they don’t destroy what makes them unique.

In fairness, all those other sites, especially YouTube, are moving in equally terrible directions right now.

In fairness, all those other sites, especially YouTube, are moving in equally terrible directions right now.

True, a lot of awesome accounts are being demonetized, YouTube hasn’t been the same since Google bought them, but Fiverr is going too far with their PC.

I think fiverr felt it couldn’t risk another incident with an obnoxious sign.

Fiverr didn’t care about their rep when they allowed paid reviews, I remember that Fiverr, the CEO used to defend paid reviews and other things they don’t defend now. I don’t see Facebook covering in fear because criminals, terrorists, and other people use their platform in undesirable ways.

They are not wanting to have people holding signs for gigs anymore.

Which makes no sense. What if I need a beautiful woman holding a sign? Why shouldn’t I be able to get that on Fiverr? This is as ridiculous as Formula 1 replacing Grid Girls with Grid Kids. The Grid Girls are angry, “feminists” costs them their jobs.

Have you never heard a narration in character? It’s called acting.

You miss the point. Your professional gig today might be the gig that gets banned tomorrow.

Why are you so committed to racing to the bottom, as opposed to joining us in the race to the top?

Because I’m commited to freedom while you’re happy burning books, or gigs in this case. For some CLIENTS, a woman holding a sign is more important than your tough guy VO. Unlike you, I let them choose.

Did you ever see the Pewdiepie video? He got some guys on Fiverr to hold up a sign displaying an anti-semitic message.

Tragic, but you know what? It doesn’t matter. As a proofreader, I’ve had to edit content that I found extremely offensive to my beliefs, and yet I did the job, it was my choice, not Fiverr’s. The old Fiverr acted like a middleman and didn’t get in the way unless someone complained. If Pewdiepie had never mentioned Fiverr, the Indians would not have gotten in trouble.

They did. Even though nobody really believed them that they didn’t understand what the sign said.

It doesn’t matter! If I hire you to read ******** talking points, it doesn’t matter if you’re a ********. You either do the job or refund.

Besides, controversial moments are bound to happen.

This is why diversity, “trust and safety,” is a bunch of BS. We’re INDIVIDUALS, not PC clones in some boring corporation. Even Google, had to fire a brilliant engineer who wrote an insightful anti-diversity memo. See? They failed to turn their workers into clones, and they’re being sued by people fired for their politics.

Mod Note: Since Fiverr does not take a specific political stance that is lined up with one nation’s political ideals, the political points have been removed. Similar comments may be edited or result in forum restrictions as this is not a political forum.

It’s trying to change the image of fiverr to be taken seriously so people will place large expensive orders.

And it’s working beautifully judging by my sales.

Fiverr is a serIous site now where people understand that they need to spend over $100 on a gig and are going to get something outstanding in return.

You sell spells. I’m glad people are paying you $35 to $45 and more, but if Fiverr is persecuting sign holders, what makes you think they won’t come after you?

After all, spells aren’t exactly a business service. I’ve never had my creative director order a big money spell before a new business presentation. It’s not something you read about on any business magazines.

And yet do I judge you? No, I respect the customer, I let him or her decide. That’s the way Fiverr used to be. Now they think they know better!

“Holding a sign” is a great gig for the seller who lives next to the ocean, a river, or some other beautiful location. It can have a lot of business applications, although that’s not what matters. What the customer wants is what matters. When you start censoring gigs, you hurt the marketplace. When you let sellers alone, the market regulates me. If nobody buys my gig after 30-60 days, I will delete it. That’s market regulation, that’s capitalism, and that used to be Fiverr’s winning formula.

while you’re happy burning books

What you call book burning, I see as gentrification. Sometimes you have to knock down the crack house to build the steakhouse. No the residents of the crack house don’t like it, but it has to be done.

I’m not against gentrification because it involves buying properties, fixing them, and selling them for more value.

What’s going on in Fiverr isn’t the same. Sign holders aren’t crackhouses! Neither are fortune tellers, crank callers, SMS senders, and all kinds of people with odd gigs.

Here’s what’s going.

Fiverr was a food court with 20 different restaurants, and they decided that only boring food must be sold. So no more Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Indian, German, BBQ, French, etc. Now it’s just McDonalds, Burger King, and Arby’s.

OK, 2 points about that. First, if you own the mall you get to decide who goes in the food court. If you owned a website you get 100% say over the content.

Second, you have your example reversed. Fiverr if getting rid of the McDonalds, Arbys, etc, and adding the Chinese, German, French, etc. They are deciding in favor of quality, and having to remove some things that are not in support of that image.

Again, their site, their call.

Here’s your opportunity to invest your own money and start a “spencer’s gifts” website for the displaced gigs. Will you do that?

Fiverr just doesn’t want to be the laughing stock in the freelancing world.

If anything makes Fiverr the laughing stock of the freelancing world, surely it’s all the 45 year old men pretending to be teenage girls?

Leave coconut guy alone. 😂

Hey! Sometimes a man just wants to feel pretty

How do you know this? Do they say “I never ordered a money spell”?

You would be surprised how many of my clients are businessmen and women who order that. Don’t make the mistake of thinking you know who my clients are.

If you don’t mind I do not want you or anyone to get personal with me about what I do or what kind of clients I have. You are wrong to assume you know what they are like. They do not just buy gigs in the fun section.
