99% of my clients are businesses or startups. I am sure some of my clients also buy in the fun category too but I believe Fiverr is trying to position itself for more businesses, those which are bigger again than most of my clients. Those businesses turning over a million+ are really those which would be great to get as clients. IMO the fun section is what a lot of those people think Fiverr is all about so I think in order to get rid of that image, they will get rid of that section.

I’m not saying I like the idea or even agree with it - just that it seems like the way they are going.

99% of my clients are businesses or startups.

At least half my buyers own businesses or startups.

There is nothing that says our section is unpopular with businesses. In fact we are a big growing industry which has almost no outlets aside from fiverr.

Whether it’s an individual that spends $500 or a company what’s the difference? Do you think it has to be a multi million dollar company that uses fiverr? I don’t see any gigs that sell for $250,000.

Besides, @eoinfinnegan already has this gig.

Really? 😃 I’d like to see him doing the Riverdance while poppin’ 🎈

Can you make it happen, Eoin? Send me a custom offer @eoinfinnegan! 😆

Seriously, I make a huge effort to stay out of a controversial topic for once and then you two just tag me to try get me involved? Not cool guys, not cool…

And it is not going to work, I am not going to mention that while I like buying some of the fun gigs for certain things, the whole category does not fit in with the direction that Fiverr has been going for at least a year to 18 months.

So hah to you Mike and Nika…

Our tags worked tho… So, yeah that’s all that matters. 😛

I feel the same way, too. The tide is definitely changing - if that’s the direction they want to take, then so be it.

We are consistently updating and evolving the marketplace to better suit our community and the needs of skilled freelancers and entrepreneurs across the globe.

Adapting to change is critical working on a site like Fiverr.

Like I say, I’m not sure it is the way to go completely although there are definitely some gigs that are just not suitable. I am not trying to or going to argue this with you, I’m just saying what I think Fiverr is up to and that I can see why they would go that direction.

In fact we are a big growing industry which has almost no outlets aside from fiverr.

It seems strange that a growing industry would have so few outlets and that the one main outlet is cutting down on the services it allows.

I agree but no one can deny there is a huge market for it. It’s possible others aren’t aware of that. I have not seen my business here dwindling, on the contrary.

I dare say I’ve increased my earnings a much greater percentage over time than most other sellers.

Surely most people think Fiverr is just a place to get dirt cheap work – often of questionable quality.

Not a good rep, but the increase in average gig price and the Pro feature are helping to put an end to it. Going after fun gigs seems unnecessary.

It’s about who is more likely to spend big money not the profile of the spender and it seems like Fiverr is aiming towards the companies, so they likely have reason to do so.

18 months ago, you didnt see any gigs that were priced over a hundred, now there are hundreds and a lot of sellers report that their main income is from $500+ sales. None selling for $250k at the moment but who knows where it is going.

Ok, Nika and Mike, you dragged me in with your “just come have a little laugh with us and then walking away” routine. I am bowing out. This like other situations recently, is a tough call that will/is causing serious problems for many sellers and so I am going to bow out of the debate for a while.

That’s wonderful for my section too! It’s not just business services that benefit from the higher prices. We do too. And it’s not just companies that spend $500 on one order. Our buyers do too.

If jungleguy wants to eat watermelons and get paid for it, how does that make anyone unsafe?

Fiverr has been moving toward a more professional freelance website for a while now. Imagine you are working at an ad agency…you want to hire a graphic artist or voice over announcer for a project. Are you going to suggest that your boss look at the profiles of the people you want to hire if while browsing you also see:

  1. I will sell you pictures of my feet for $5.
  2. I will put underwear on my head for $5.
  3. I will blow up a balloon till it breaks for $5.

Of course not.

Fiverr realizes that there is lots more money to be made by now swinging toward a more professional community of sellers and buyers.

That’s why PRO gigs, and performance based badges. It’s not about being unsafe, it’s about looking like a professional that someone would want to do business with.

This made me laugh seriously 😂

Thanks for stopping by and sharing your thoughts with the people. Your time is valuable so it was nice of you to make an appearance for @newsmike & I. Having a candid discussion is a good thing. Arguing about it will not solve the problem. Fiverr already made their decision so there’s nothing anyone of us can do, really.

I don’t need to imagine I am working at an ad agency, I have worked for many of them and they are boring places with very few exceptions. They are NOT role models. In fact, companies are starting to ask the general public to pitch in ideas for YouTube videos, TV commercials, slogans, etc, because they’re tired of the corporate crap they typically get.

Fiverr has been moving toward a more professional freelance website for a while now

And how does that help Fiverr? There’s already a TON of boring freelance websites. Besides, not everyone here comes for logos and brand names, some people are here to buy feet pictures, erotic birthday videos, guy talking like a crime lord, etc.

You have a gig like that!

“I Will Record A Tough Guy Voice Over”

Careful! Maybe someone will be triggered by your tough guy voice!

It seems that Fiverr has decided to focus on one customer target: companies.

They can do that without destroying Fiverr. Youtube, Facebook, Twitter, they target companies as well, but they don’t destroy what makes them unique.

This is supposed to be a marketplace for freelancers and if people want to eat watermelon for pay and others are happy and pleased to hire them who cares?

Thank you! I’m glad someone gets it. Besides, today they come for the water melon eaters, tomorrow they come for the fortune tellers.

And this is exactly why fiverr needs to split into a new entity.

Very well, the cubicle people can sell their stuff on Dullerr.

Hi everyone.

We are consistently updating and evolving the marketplace to better suit our community and the needs of skilled freelancers and entrepreneurs across the globe. We make changes every day to try to create a safe and pleasant environment for our users. Unfortunately, some services that are not currently within our editorial focus are going to be removed. It is not lost on us that these Gigs can be a sole source of income for some sellers, and we’d love to work with sellers who have been affected to help them meet our community standards.

Hey,

thanks for reply… Its tough for who living from fiverr income and who living in rural area. Why you guys not taking is as skilled freelancers? We have good skill for funny promotionals. Our buyer feedbacks proved it. WHY you guys thinking graphic designers and other people only as a skilled freelancers. If we haven’t a skill, buyers not buying our gigs and not gave us a great positive reviews. We had only skill for funny promotionals. Please do something for us. Now haven’t time for learn anything for offer in fiverr. We with fiverr since 2012 when fiverr had fiverr version 1. Please think about our side also. I am taking your side,if we broken fiverr TOS or any regulation. But we only Offered very peaceful service here. Please don’t put our life down. 😥

There’s no denying that your gigs were awesome and that you were passionate about your work. I wish I had a chance to buy a gig from you!

BIGGEST PROBLEM is still many buyers offering these types gigs in fiverr.

Don’t feel singled out. It’ll take Fiverr some time to eradicate these gigs.

My problem is WHY they Treating us like this? because fiverr is a one and only income for me. Now i haven’t a idea what to do. Now 4 days, still i am thinking and little bit crazy now. because no income.

I really wish they gave your category more time to prepare tho. In the near future, the least Fiverr could do is give sellers the heads-up out of courtesy. Especially for sellers putting their heart and soul into this website. I know it feels like the rug has been ripped out from beneath you. Take Fiverr up on their offer on how they can help you!

Now my question is … what are the gigs that fiver editorial team focussed on. Is there any list ?

Sellers doesn’t know abut this until there gigs get dined … this will make everyone panic and post there gigs on some other platforms as well other wise how can they survive when they got denied if they are living from this.

First fiver should have a criteria as what are the gigs they are not focused on then sellers will not open gigs on that topic. Or even when creating gigs Fiver should not allow to publish gigs on which are not focused.

On the growing stage of fiver they have allowed these gigs and once they grown its not allowed means its not fair at all… coz they have grown from these.
