The more I read this thread, I start to suspect that you were just the victim of some unprofessional sellers. May I ask if they were sellers with lots (as in hundreds) of completed sales with good ratings?

Their behavior makes no sense.

I don’t know about @jonbaas.

His logo gig states:

“No drug or adult-oriented requests.”

I don’t know how he feels about LGBT businesses.

No, their behavior makes perfect sense, and they have good ratings because they do a great job. I guess by your standard, a Christian book cover designer should be force to designed erotica book covers. Honestly, people are better off hiring people like them.

I just wish there was like a separate tab or category where all lgbt friendly sellers were listed because there are so many sellers on Fiverr that sifting through each one individually just to find out through rejection about who is or isn’t on board with the project is a bit daunting.

Hello there

It is a lame that a person that consider him/herself a seller here, use a s****l preference as an excuse to reject a work, that it only talks about that person and how he/she takes his or her professional and personal live. (I think this kind of behavior it is not common and it is just an isolated case.)

We have tastes that make us different from other persons that live in this planet and also we are uniques… and we have to evolve to be better persons that understand and accept, the differences between us.

About you idea to show a tab or a list for lgbt sellers, it is not a solution for me it is a form to discriminated yourself and the other sellers.

Well, it is a logo for an LGBT network, according to the OP it does not involve sex or pornography at all. It is probably a network designed to help empower gay and transpeople, according to the OP “no different than BET”

Just because it is a network for people with a certain sexuality doesn’t in any way mean that it is a network that utilizes sex, pornographic imagery, or even s****l innuendo.

As far as I can tell, this isn’t for an adult service anymore than a woman asking for a logo for their feminism blog is about that woman’s vagina.

The thing is, people do have every right to say that they feel uncomfortable with something - especially on a global site. There are no globally protected classes/groups, so this issue really isn’t about discrimination, it’s about beliefs and misunderstandings. It’s best to stay on track here and help buyers with finding sellers who are comfortable with the service the buyer needs. (I absolutely support the LGBT community, but I’m being practical.)

I agree with @lucycodex that this OP described a request for a service that was not adult-oriented. While I’m not going to make any broad assumptions, there is nothing wrong with the OP asking for a logo for an LGBT related network. Sellers can choose to say that they would prefer not to do that.

The bottom line is that our forum community can help educate those who need a good service at a reasonable price, and part of that is teaching people how to find the “right” seller. 🙂

You completely misunderstood. I was referring to their not completing work and poor communications skills as not making sense, considering that they had already accepted the gig. I have cancelled a few because the content was not right for me, but I was completely professional in my response and even suggested a great seller who I knew would do the job.

And as far as believing a Christian book designer being forced to do something like that…uh no 100% opposite of what I think. You got really mixed up there.

Some of the sellers I contacted were level 2 but most were level 1 but with positive reviews on their work

Well, please trust me that most are not like that. There are plenty who would be happy to work with you.

I would be happy to work with you, I have a logo gig, if you’re interested in my work. I support your idea of creating a network like that. I think it would be a great thing for the LGBT community. I hope you find the right logo creator for you either way. I would say to not give up on Fiverr as a whole because there’s plenty of awesome sellers for all kinds of projects that won’t discriminate or make you feel terrible because you wanted their service.

I wish I did logos…I’d be happy to design your logo and have your money. But that’s me. I just do voice stuff and translating. When hiring services here, I treat it the same way as when I buy stuff on sites like eBay (equivalent here is MercadoLibre): I look for sellers with great reputations via reviews and with a large number of delivered orders under their belts. Then I talk to them and we work it out. If it doesn’t work with them, I try someone else until it does. Have I been disappointed? Once, yes. And my feedback in the form of a constructive review was recourse enough.

There are some great designers here, and I’m sure many would love the opportunity to be part of your project.

I wish you all success and send warm tropical greetings from Cancun!

Thank you so much !! That means a lot.

That’s for the seller to decide. It’s like religion, a matter of interpretation and opinion. It’s 100% subjective.

The seller is King on Fiverr. The seller needs to be the one with all the power because it is he who can suffer a bad review or a refund (or both) while the buyer never suffers.

It is up to the seller to approve or deny the work, but if it is not pornographic, it is not pornographic. If pornography is that subjective then I can refuse to write articles about trees because some people are arborphiliacs.
