Not all sellers are homophobic

I wonder, since homophobia is being alleged in this thread, does that apply to a Muslim or Christian seller who has religious based reasons for declining?

I would ❤️ to answer your question, but I won’t go there for obvious reasons.

I few weeks ago I heard about this site from a youtube channel and thought my prayers had been answered and that I had finally found the means to get my lgbt network business off the ground . little did I know what I was to encounter. I had gigs that I described thourally that I needed fulfilled and the offers poured in. I chose two sellers and lo and behold .as soon as I described made an agreement with these sellers and explained more thourally what the job consisted of. After that no one got back to me . one seller even went as far as to receive my payment and then decline it citing that he could not work on the project because it was considered pornography?

I attempted to air my grievances but the mobile site does not afford that option just as the desktop version lacks that ability also. All I have to say is that I am truly disappointed and am warning others attempting to have lgbt projects done through Fiverr.as for me I’m done .I’m not wasting my time anymore because I know my money would be better spent elsewhere

Hi @les_shipper78 I can assure you that this is not an issue if you just learn a bit about vetting sellers, but I know it’s different here because this is a global site. I think you can find some amazing sellers on Fiverr who have no problem with whatever type of work you want done, but you will also find sellers who are uncomfortable with specifics. Since this is a global website, we have sellers of all ethnicities, religions, creeds, cultural backgrounds, etc. Some live in very remote areas (no matter what country) and some are in big cities. It’s a private site and sellers can make choices based on their own preferences.

Like @misscrystal mentioned, there are sellers who have LGBT (or other things) specified in their gig descriptions, titles and keywords. I specifically mention LGBT in one of my own gig descriptions, though I am not a logo designer, different type of work. I do understand that people have preferences and I don’t mind it.

When you go looking for a seller and you have a specific needs (i.e. a religion, a political stance, a cultural issue) it is really helpful to look for sellers who mention that they do that. If you can’t find someone that way, when you write a buyer request, use a keyword or two that indicates your need. (“I need a logo for a LGBT related business.”)

If you are done with Fiverr I can understand that too, but if you look at the site from a birds eye view, it can change your perspective. Not everyone has had the opportunities to become familiar with content that is less mainstream. 🙂

I just wish there was like a separate tab or category where all lgbt friendly sellers were listed because there are so many sellers on Fiverr that sifting through each one individually just to find out through rejection about who is or isn’t on board with the project is a bit daunting.

I am a writer of romance fiction and I have a gig specifically for LGBTQ offers. It says it in bold so I know that we have sellers who cater for people with alternative lifestyle. I’ve worked well with clients in this genre and I don’t think they’ve ever had an issue with me writing their books. I think you just ran into some difficult sellers

I think its better to check nationality or specify clearly in request that it is for an alternative lifestyle. As for some south asian nationalities and other countries if something is remotely associated with it could caught them in trouble with local law. Secondly its a personal preference of a seller to accept or reject. You mentioned one thing that a seller took your money and then refused of working. Just to mention that money isnt delivered to seller either its in fiverr account. Kindly check properly fiverr rules and methods

That´s a good idea. Open minded sellers! I have never had a problem translating lgbt related stuff… Love is Love!! Viva el amor! :couple_with_heart_man_man:

Mod Note:

If there are any good Logo Designers reading, mods will allow you to say you are interested in this project in a reply on this thread. This is not usually permitted on the forum but I think it would be fair to make an exception considering the negative experience that the OP has had.

Please note that links to gigs are still not allowed and that you should just say you are interested instead - @les_shipper78 can then contact you if desired.

I don’t have a logo gig up but do have an illustration one that the OP can order through. If they’re interested.

it is the fact that I was in many occasions denied service after being offered it by sellers who saw the gig offer and the other half when I was asked to elaborate on the project never got back to me

Since this is an international site, it is possible you were contacted by people in areas of the world who didn’t know what LGBT stands for. So in a sense, you were lucky that these sellers were eliminated rather than accepting a job they probably were not qualified to do.

Buyer’s Request area of this site gets a lot of new or inexperienced sellers. You are better off doing a search for the type of seller you are looking for, and more likely to find an experienced professional one.

How do I begin that search? What keywords should I look for ? Are there any ways I can streamline my search for more affective results?

Oh and by the way … Thank you for your help

There is a search box at the top left of each page on the site so search for a keyword of what you are looking for. And look for Top Rated Sellers since they are vetted by fiverr.

This is thankfully not the norm, and it seems to have only been one seller out of many.

This reminds me of the time that I had a client tell me that I was homophobic and didn’t understand LGBT interactions when he asked for a 300-word pornographic article on Justin Beiber and him makin bacon. He was upset because it was not detailed enough (300 words is barely enough for a short blog post, let alone an erotic short story) and apparently BJ’s are “stereotyping.”

He told me I obviously don’t know how gay sex works, which I find hilarious because I have been out as a member of the LGBT since at least 2009, am married, etc.

Anyways, I certainly hope you find an awesome seller on here to help with notworking.

  1. If what you sell is controversial, message the seller before ordering.

  2. Avoid problems by searching keywords that relate to your business. Try searching “gay writer” and if you need someone happy to serve the LGBT.

  3. Use common sense. If the gig description says no alcohol, no sex, no adult, no religion, no politics, then you know what orders the seller won’t do.

4.Understand that Fiverr is a GLOBAL MARKETPLACE, so don’t assume your values are global.

  1. When you post a gig, mention that the product is a a gay network. Before you accept an offer, ask the seller if he has any issues with your community.

True, the LGBT may not be that controversial anymore in the US, Canada, or EU, but it can be a major area of concern in other countries, like the middle east, or Russia, Since Fiverr is a global platform, although we should work to prevent LGBT discrimination, we should expect that many people might not see the LGBT in a good light.

Then again, I don’t understand why anyone would deny money just because it has a rainbow sticker on it. Green is green, right?

Edit: Unless you live in Canada or the EU, then I guess blue, and orange, etc.

In the end, there’s a simple solution, order from someone else.

Apparently it must look like I didn’t do that before I came here to air out my grievance:expressionless:. By the way , its hard to order a service when everyone with the capacity to serve you won’t 😒 and then you’re made to look like the villain because you were under the misguided impression that if you paid for a service. it should be provided:thinking:

apparently that is no longer the case

There are some sellers from various cultures, some who don’t have anything but a very rural lifestyle, some with little or no formal education, so understand that there are those who don’t have Western cultures or sensibilities. It just takes some looking around and asking sellers questions.

Many people don’t want to do something that goes against their values. And that’s OK. I am just an advocate on making sure those values are justifiable and logical, and not just rooted in “But muh religion” or “My feels tho”

Thank you , thank you thank you …exactly

If you are looking for a good logo maker, maybe @jonbaas will be able to help? He seems like a pretty swell guy, so it may be worth it to at least ask

The more I read this thread, I start to suspect that you were just the victim of some unprofessional sellers. May I ask if they were sellers with lots (as in hundreds) of completed sales with good ratings?
Their behavior makes no sense.

My network idea has nothing even remotely tied to porn. I am attempting to create a network like BET or Telemundo that serves a niche market which is the lgbt community.

@les_shipper78 I am so sorry to hear that you have had such a shocking response. My sister is gay and I know she has had so many hardships with the attitude people have towards the LGBTQ+ community.

Although you have had a negative experience I know that those few people do not represent the Fiverr as a whole.
