I don’t want to offend you, but isn’t it part of your job as web developer to know what information and pieces of the puzzle you require from your client?

Very little. The more homework they have to do before they place their order, the lower your conversion rate will be (which in turn will hurt your ranking).

I have a list of 8 or 10 things I need from clients before I get started working for them. They receive that list a few moments after they order from me.
