My target audience is anyone who needs an editor.

That seems like a broad customer category. Perhaps you can narrow that target customer base down to something more manageable – a target customer base that you can actually target.

Example: If I sell delicious cheeseburgers, I’m not going to stand on a busy highway, and shout at passing cars about the awesomeness of my cheeseburgers. Sure, there might be hungry people driving by in their cars, but that’s not the right place to target customers. Instead, I’ll go set up a booth at an outdoor craft fair, and let the wonderful aroma of my cheeseburgers on the grill waft into the crowd. People wandering the many boths, can then walk over to my grill, and buy a cheeseburger to satisfy their hunger.

Just going after anyone who might need your services usually doesn’t work. You need to target your marketing, and you need to be in the right place for those target customers to have easy access to what you can offer them.

There are thousands of people offering editing skills. What can you do to offer your skills in a way that those thousands of other sellers aren’t offering theirs? And where can you go to find those people who want – and need – YOUR unique editing skills?

Anyone isn’t a great word when it comes to marketing and looking for business. If you look for something more specific then you are far more likely to find them.
