Do We All Work Weekends?

How do we Fiverrs’ remedy working weekends?

From my observation I haven’t noticed any feature that allows us to sign out per-say weekends. Though, changing turn-times to cover weekends is an option I haven’t found it to be the best option. I’ve activated vacation mode in the past as well only to sign back in to fall in placement etc.
Would logging off work best in this scenario?

Would love to hear thoughts and opinions from the Fiverr community?
Looking forward to coming up with a schedule better streamlined that what I’m currently working with.

Thanks Doers’!!

Logging off wouldn’t stop buyers ordering your gigs, including ones with a 1 day delivery. The easiest way would be to increase delivery times (or remove the 1 day delivery) but that probably wouldn’t be the most profitable (though I assume most businesses would be okay with only having deliveries on week days). Otherwise maybe pausing gigs could be an option. Or also you could add a note in the gig “no deliveries on weekends” something.

What’s a weekend? 🙂

If you truly do not want to be contacted over a weekend then vacation mode from Friday to Monday is the only option but it is likely that would affect your standings in search results, especially if you were doing it every week.

I have never paused my gigs or extended delivery times on weekends. Much less activated the vacation mode. I have only extended the delivery time of my gigs when the workload does not allow me to attend a new order in the usual time.

In my personal experience this does not bring good results. Since a couple of times I have activated the vacation mode to take a few days (no more than a week in any case) and this has caused a decrease in the traffic of my gigs.

I am currently having a little less traffic than usual after having an incredible overload. I think this is due to the fact that last week I had to activate the vacation mode for three days due to personal reasons.

In conclusion, it is not a good idea unless it is extremely necessary.

I work pretty much all day every day and not just on Fiverr. I also write for other sites and write short ebooks as well.

However, my workday also consists of:

  • Social Media Prescence
  • Marketing (mainly through social media, but I also make pics and logos and stuff to help advertise)
  • Writing pitches to people who need my work
  • Budgeting my funds
  • Etc

So no weekends off for me!

I don’t work most weekends. I carefully schedule my time during the week and I have to adjust delivery time on my gigs frequently. But, I do better work when I take regular breaks.

I do respond to messages on the weekend, but the mobile app makes that easy.

That is a good point, always good to take a break from work. But I haven’t been able to for the last 3-4 years. Maybe I need to increase my productivity so that I can take a break at least once a week.

I increased my delivery time to count up for the weekend, but also mainly because I already have a full time job.

Fiverr is part time for me to discover new opportunities and learn new things! 🙂

There is nothing like an Weekend/Weekday split for me. I work whenever I please and take vacations just when I feel like taking one. The only issue is not being able to catch-up with friends because they stay engrossed in their 9-5 jobs. (Loving my life! :hugs:)

I work when there is work to be done, generally I find things slow down over the weekend, so it is less hours on the weekend and if I wanted a day off, I can usually condense the work to one day and take the other day off - handy if I have family stuff on 😄

I thought most self employed people worked weekends.

Neither, it’s just about completing orders on time. We all have a commitment to our clients, an obligation to make sure their work is done on time - that comes first, before everything else.

Hmm… then how about having fewer orders and developing prudent time management? I think it’s f&g that prevents someone from developing these two.

Higher productivity, staying focused on the job, doing more in less time - I have to learn that. But my worry is, if I am able to stay focused and increase my productivity, I will only get more orders and get even busier. 😀 [Anyway, gotta go, work calls.]

They are all good and worthy of pursuing for their own sake. My point was - when you touch their ceilings, one can and will still aim higher. Lowering your bar for achievement/orders/earnings a bit can release good amount of “free energy”.

@ghemachandar1 I love my work and want to work 7 days a week and it has zero to do with fear or greed.

It sounds like you are unable to understand that idea that some people love to work and love what they do so much they do it seven days a week. You need to learn that there are lots of people who do this and its not due to fear or greed.

I’ve learned that, in some parts of the world, Sundays are counted as working days, which would make my weekend be just Saturday - but then I had noticed that on Saturdays people are usually more inclined to buy because they have more time as they’re sitting comfy at home instead of working.

And, apparently, in some countries Saturdays become working days, too, after some specific holidays.

I know, I know, you were referring to your weekend, not that of the rest of the globe, but here’s my question to you: are you willing to lose orders and potential regular clients when people are willing to order on those days?

If you are, then you can just do as others have suggested: use vacation mode or extend your delivery times.

If not, then welcome to the freelancing club 😃

It was often times, @misscrystal. Not always and not with everyone… and the comment was definitely not aimed at you. 🙂

Having pledged a luxurious life for Scientific research, I do understand what it means to do things for “love of work”.

That is not however the case with many people who stretch their limits into bad health and poor spirit. Let me put it this way…

Imagine, you are give a free $10M tomorrow into your Bank Account. Would you still work on Fiverr… on Weekends… and deal with troubling customers, all for ‘love of work’? You may say Yes and so could a few lucky souls here. But a vast majority of the people would say No. Like, obviously.
