Question about font copyright

If a seller is doing a gig (eg. a video) and a buyer asks the seller to use a font the seller doesn’t have (such as DIN Bold), what’s the best way of determining if the fonts available online are legitimate? In the past when a font a buyer wanted was only available for a very expensive fee they were okay about changing to an alternative font. While there are free versions of this particular font (DIN Bold) available online to me the only legitimate ones seem to be very expensive (>=£49) - ie. a free site lists the publisher as a site which charges >=£49 and other free sites don’t list the publisher/designer. So am I right that only the expensive sites (at least for this font) are legitimate?

What is the best thing to do in situations like this? Ask the buyer if they can choose an alternative font (eg. one without any copyright issues and that aren’t really highly priced)?
