How long before I contact a client who gave me a 5 star review and promised to order more

I recently joined fiverr and the experience has been bitter-sweet. I completed a gig for a client (I took my time to impress him) and I got a 5 star review. He also proceeded to hint that he had many more orders in queue. I want to know the appropriate waiting time before I can message him again. I do not want to seem like a pest.

Unless he directly told you to contact him and remind him about whatever he needs done, any message you send him to ask him for work might be seen as spam.

A lot of people say that they will come back, but never show up again.

As catwriter said, never contact him first. It is against the rules to do this. He knows where to find you if he needs to order from you again.
