I get a few buyers who order then I complete the order but they dont check it for like a week or more then its marked complete then they message me saying I need changes, what should I do? I only offer revisions on the bigger packages, if its $5 for a huge change then no.

If you do not gave any revision then basically you have nothing to do. you can only say that buyer about it.

If you gave any revision and the buyer failed to use it timely then also you have nothing to do. only you can say that buyer about it.

But if you want to show your humanities or you want to keep that buyer in your hand for lifetime you can change as his requirement and send it via inbox without any watermark. Also you should say about the problem. Then that buyer will very happy and will never leave you. 🙂

Politely explain them that revisions were not included in the package that they’ve purchased, and ask them if they want you to send them a custom offer for the additional work (revisions).

You’re asking a difficult question due to the subjective nature of our field. Yes, most buyers waiting down the clock are usually making an attempt to stick you for the revision. Even more evil, the buyers asking you for melodic & lyric changes are normally trying to get more songs from you.

Consider this: I wrote songs for a staff for a few years. My retainer was weekly. That didn’t change regardless of what I wrote. I kept the songwriting royalties, split the publishing and was paid weekly. I was being paid for my time and my catalog was the proof I should be there. Likewise, you are being paid for your time and a customer should know what they will receive by listening to your examples.

I specify AT LENGTH with every customer concerning examples, concepts and ALL details before hand. I make it a point for them to realize that I will not revise songs because they changed their arrangement concepts midstream (and certainly not after the fact). That’s not a revision, that’s a new song.

On the other hand, I’ve got to be flexible with small ideas - like a person’s name being added to a mostly complete song or something. Yes, it sucks that they are holding you hostage for a better review. That’s everyone in this inflated ego, customer service run wild, sit-at-home-review, Yelp critic wanna-be world. That just can’t dictate your business policies.

It’s also very important to know what you don’t do. I can’t tell you how many songwriters contact me (both online and in person) looking for productions because they’ve bitten off more than they can chew. Promising full productions they can’t provide… Promising guitar solos and piano solos and realizing how unavailable hot players really are.

Anyways, writing custom music is certainly more risky than the average gig. If the world can’t agree on good music, certainly customers aren’t gonna like every song choice on fiverr. For this reason it’s better to view it as a performance… and at a performance I’m getting paid no matter what. If you show up and did the job, that’s the job. If they want another set, that’ll be extra.
