Hi all,

Just joined the community and happy to see all the useful information here.

I have been selling a few gigs since a month and had good progress.

Following points are helping me to get all positive ratings.

  1. Assure the clients about what you can deliver.
  2. Overdeliver on time
  3. Give some choices where possible
  4. Fulfill any additional requirements with care. Don’t make clients repeat.
  5. Encourage clients to ask for changes done on your work.

    All the best!

My number one rule is good communication. No matter the venue, knowing that the person on the other side of the line is listening is important.

I want my buyers to know that I am listening and that I am open to their ideas.

If I have developed a good connection with a buyer I will ask them directly to pass a link to my service along on their site or page. Word it nicely and maybe deliver a little extra something with the request. It is always good to grease the wheels a little.

I think that a newbie must study the competition first. Than to prepare a template message in order to adapt this to any kind of client interests. And also to have 1-2 bonuses prepared. And last but not least they must have willing to succeed and to think positive.

  1. always over deliver to your customer

  2. do quality job

  3. be polite in messaging your client

  4. if you can’t do something, just cancel the order. This way you will escape troubles with your rating and the buyer will get full refund. This is a win-win situation.

  5. Don’t be greedy in your prices at the beginning. Example: there are some translation services here. Some people would go for 5 buks with 500 words text. Some only with 200 words…The one who would go with less have not clients at all…You got the idea

  6. reply to messages in orders or in the personal box as fast as possible

P.S. I am on fiverr as much seller as a buyer… So i am a real expert in this topic))

I’d say communication is key. Try to respond to queries within 2 hours, if possible. Customers really notice this and most of the time mention it when giving a good rating. Based on what Michael Gerber said, your product is not only the important thing in your business, it’s the whole package of how your business interacts with the customer.

That’s exactly what I care about as a buyer, especially from providers with no or little reputation. Right now I’m looking (yes, actively searching) for somebody to do some programming things and the “best” reply was just yesterday:

"That’s sure gonna be costly, but since I’m lazy reading, could you put a less detailed desription?"

Sure, Buddy! And later I get “I didn’t understand what you need!”? Does anybody think, i even answered? …

Welcome New Fiverr sellers, There has already been a great deal of invaluable information posted here for you. Here’s another thought that may be of value. If a buyer sends you a message requesting something from you that is not exactly what you are offering or that may be a stretch for you, you may consider passing on that order. Here’s why! Your success on Fiverr is directly related to how well you do what you say you do.

SO don’t put yourself in the position of trying to accomodate a buyer if they are requesting something that you aren’t excellent at. Stay will what you do best and do your best. You will be a top-rated seller in no time. Much luck to you, CoachSami
