Smart Buyer not letting the order complete

Hi,
I’m writing this post to let sellers know what can happen if you provide unlimited revisions.

I provide unlimited revisions in my GIG.

So i completed her work 20 days ago. She liked my work very first time but then she tries to be smart, she will not respond to me till 2 days after the delivery and on third day when fiverr automatically marks the order complete she will request revision and ask for minor changes.

then again she will not respond till 2 days after delivery of the new work and then on third day a new revision request comes.

I’m not frustrated or angry on this but i am just curious to see how many days she will do this no matter a year or two but i’ll keep revising for her.

Tell your views on this.

Unlimited revisions are always a bad idea, in my opinion.

I’ve seen cases being mentioned on the forum of changes being requested after one or even two years after the gig was completed.

Please, decide on a suitable number of revisions, and stick to it. 🙂

By asking the seller through a message, even when the order is marked as complete, from what I’ve read.

It’s never happened to me - I don’t offer modifications at all.

I 100% comply with you as I have become a victim of the bad aspects of providing unlimited revisions. I am just exhausted seeing the childish behavior of that buyer. At last, without keeping my anger control, I myself offered him a cancellation although I have delivered the original source file of my work. So, he got his work done without paying me!!! Really frustrated! I am gonna change the numbers of revisions in all of my GIGS.

You are lowering volume of your sales on removing Unlimited Revisions.

Am I?

Nearly 500 completed orders, and no negative reviews - it doesn’t seem to have done me too much harm! 😉

There are Positive as well as Negative aspects of offering unlimited Revisions 😉

I’m sure there are, but for what I’m offering, any changes made after the gig is complete would mean starting from scratch, which is why I don’t offer them.

How a revision request will happen after two years??

It happened to me. Short story version. I was with Fiverr support chatting each day for several times a day for about two weeks. The end result was that they refunded the buyer claiming that I offered unlimited revisions. This was after two weeks of ‘‘negotiation’’ with me to settle with the buyer who wanted me to work on the same project, but all over again since client made new changes which required me to do everything all over again if I wanted to achieve the same quality and service like the first time.

To sum it up, remove revisions or put a note that revisions are valid for limited time. Don’t even try to reason and explain with Fiverr support since they will always side with the buyer, no matter what. It was funny to me how Fiverr CS kept drawing conclusions of their own and taking one part of the story out of the whole context. I always had to tell them to read prior msgs between buyer and me. Finally, they said that I do offer unlimited revisions meaning that I should adhere to what I wrote and not what is written in Fiverr TOS. Keep in mind that they will cite Fiverr TOS when it suits them, and in other cases when it is not in their favor they will keep badgering you until they find a needle in a hay which will support the buyer claim.

NOTE: this is my own experience and I don’t speak for others. However, do just write Fiverr reviews into a search bar and you will see the experience from other ppl, buyers, and sellers.

Don’t get me wrong. Fiverr itself as a platform and idea is absolutely amazing. From 1-10 stars I would rate it 12. I met wonderful clients with whom I met in live when they visited my country and vice versa. Fiverr provided me with a ton of possibilities and I will always be grateful for that. Needless to say, I always promote Fiverr to my surroundings and at least a dozen of my friends/acquaintances started on Fiverr as buyers, sellers or both. The problem is Fiverr Support. They simply don’t look into cases, into sellers claims objectively. I had an experience where one person from Fiverr support issued a warning on my account with further notice of possible suspension whereas another person from Fiverr support would deal with the same issue and have it resolved within 5 minutes since he took the time to read the whole situation from beginning till the end.

Fiverr platform, grade 1-10, final grade 12, superb experience

Fiverr support, grade 1-10, final grade 3, poor experience

So you no longer offer unlimited revisions?

Although I don’t offer revision to my gig but when buyer asks for revision I accept it especially if the reason for revision is due to my mistake.

I had an experience with a buyer that asked for revision because he forgot to add some information but I’ve already delivered the order. When i delivered the revised version he started to complain and wanted another revision after revision. It came to the point that I had to cancel the order. So I agree that revision can sometimes be abused and buyer can walk away with a free order.

If the situation really annoys you then just cancel the order if you can afford to lose the amount.

And unpaid revisions are generally a bad idea as far as I am concerned.

When buying, I don’t think I have ever hired someone who had unlimited revisions unless I “knew” them from the forum.
Unlimited revisions gives me the impression that the work will be low quality and will need lots of changes. My time is worth more than that so I prefer to deal with sellers who have confidence in their work being right first time, with perhaps some cosmetic changes at the end.

I’ve said it before, a revision should be a small or a couple of small details, not a do-over or a new concept.
If your work requires you offering unlimited revisions then you need to look at how you work. If you are not getting enough info at the start - change that, if your client is uncommunicative - find a way to make them communicate, if you don’t understand what clients are saying - focus on what questions you ask etc.

Unlimited revisions doesn’t mean low quality.

I do graphic design and sometimes we need a lot of revisions to fix a very little minor thing.

Revisions are not needed on every category, but for graphic design it is needed.

I’m sorry this happened to you. Most buyers in my experience have been a delight but I can see how some people would try and con sellers. Hopefully this never happens to you again!

Maybe not but that is the impression it gives me.

Anyway, I think you are counting each change or adjustment as a revision, its not.

One revision should be to “fix the little minor thing” not every adjustment or attempt you make to fix it.

If you did a logo for me and I asked you to make the font bigger by 2 points, if you make it bigger by 4 points and I ask you to change it, the second time I ask is not a revision - a basic example but I am sure you get what I mean.
