I doubt that Fiverr is losing any business of any note merely because they don’t support Bitcoin. Bitcoin just isn’t that popular of a currency. Fiverr’s current payment options are more than adequate for those who use this site.

It will hurt no one if someone want/say to bring bitcoin back, and for popularity, not sure how you know about currencies but Bitcoin is very popular and useful too.

Bitcoin is not a secure, commercially-popular, or as-yet, commercially viable currency. If it was so popular, and useful, why can’t you go to McDonald’s and order a cheeseburger with Bitcoin, or buy gas for your car with Bitcoin… or pay your electricity bill with Bitcoin?

There may be many people online who share bitcoin in certain settings, but it is not a safe, established, commercially-supported, viable currency. And that may be why Fiverr does not accept Bitcoin as a valid currency here on their site.

Fiverr has used bitcoin before two years… I have made order myself for wordpress services.

About secure… if someone pay service with Paypal…they can dispute and take money back and YOU and fiverr take nothing. If it is with exchanges as Bitcoin, they can’t dispute, maybe can cancel and refund in fiverr only.

About MC Donald… it is matter of time when the BTC or other digital coin will be used.

hi All,
While I agree that there are undoubtedly reasons that lead to the decision of stopping supporting Bitcoin from Fiverr, from buyers perspective I and my friends and maybe others expect that Bitcoin should be allowed to make payment. Because it help buyers another crucial method payment when we are unable to pay via Paypal or Cards.
Furthermore, there a numerous of Website online accepting Bitcoin, it is not too hard for Fiverr to deploy this part!

I agree

I feel more safe when someone would order to me with bitcoin rather than paypal. Privacy of paypal allow buyers to dispute payments for about 120 days or something like this and this has happened to me twice. I’ve worked for free. With Bitcoin, this is impossible to happen because they will exchange in dollar automatically and there is no refund or dispute.

Again, respectfully… I doubt it. Just because it’s a cool thing right now for some people, doesn’t mean that it will become as valuable as (or more valuable then) national currencies. I just don’t see Bitcoin becoming anything more than it is right now.

It was exciting to hear bitcoin as one of the accepted payments but by the time I did a search it just wasn’t there any more. I don’t have bitcoin myself but was curious to see how it worked since it surfaced as a discussion topic during on a stock trading show. Though popular, it isn’t mainstream enough for everyone to jump on board.

Not everyone is able to utilize this as a payment option and not everyone is able to accept it as a payment option. Yes there are sites and exchanges to make conversions a breeze but there is a preference for familiarity. Even though bitcoin is deemed to be secure, it is still seen as a digital currency which translates into needed internet access for it to be used.

@uncarved Thanks for the article. I’ve been trying to find it since a past forum post.

I have no interest in arguing the merits of Bitcoin with you. Fiverr has chosen not to accept it as a valid form of currency. That is the current and official status of Bitcoin as Fiverr sees it.

No interest? Then do us a favor and don't reply on thread that you don't have interest.

Understand your position that you are just a user/seller just like us and don't try to be so smart just to earn attention of other people with your ignorant answers.

Forum is for everyone and 'again' just because Fiverr official don't do something, does not mean we can't discuss it!

Thanks.

I didn’t say anything about anyone stopping you from talking about this topic. I merely pointed out that Fiverr does not appear to have any interest in offering Bitcoin as a valid payment option. Please do not make judgements about things that I have not said or done.

I still do not get why Fiverr turn off Bitcoin? They just announced that “lack of interest”, then shut Bitcoin down! Meanwhile, I am a Buyer (not Seller) and many of my friend are also solely buyers at Fiverr. Each of us are agency from SEO service freelance. We got so many project every week and each of us paid around $200 per week to Seller here by BITCOIN. ANd i believe strongly there are more Buyers who are solely able to pay by Bitcoin.
I created this thread because SEO clerks does not provide enough Sellers to accommodate our big projects but Fiverr does not accept Bitcoin. We really want Fiverr support Bitcoin again, it does not hurt anyone! and just bring back more customers like me and my friends. As a result, Sellers also get more profit!

Would it be possible to convert your bitcoin to dollars and purchase your services via Paypal? What’s stopping you from doing that?

Thank you for your idea. But Paypal and other current payment method have no privacy while Bitcoin protects our privacy and easy, fast, independent. Thats why we love to use Bitcoin rather than any others.

I understand! Possibly you can have a third person make your purchases?

You’ll pay them via Bitcoin and they’ll purchase the gigs you require through Fiverr thus keeping your identity private.

That is too complicated and no one can trust the 3rd person.

I have no idea why Fiverr makes it so hard for buyers who solely use Bitcoin like me.

PayPal is EXTREMELY private and secure. That’s why millions of people use it to make purchases and transfer money online. Could it be that you – personally – just don’t like Paypal? 😉

Would you accept an unregulated, decentralized virtual currency? Last month Bitcoin had a $600 drop on market ($2800-$2200) imagine how big impact can have a drop like that for a business that runs thousands of Bitcoin.
