Sad over a gig cancellation

I haven’t had many clients here. I’m actually very grateful that one client in particular has been very understanding and patient with me. It really motivates me to do my best when I’m feeling so sick and/or depressed that it worsens problems. I’m happy that I can do my best for them.

On the other hand, another client mistook my need for clarification twice as a sign of incompetence, and burst out in anger over an hour ago when their initial instructions were confusing and the 2nd time, I just wanted to ask if they liked the pose and style I went with. They wanted to cancel the commission, and me, not wanting to deal with anyone like this, requested a cancellation order, which they, coming from what I’ve read in the forums just now, will probably not respond to.

I’m still new to the ratings system here, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they left a hateful rating that was devoid of constructive criticism. This happened the first time I got a bad rating, merely because I wasn’t active on Fiverr.

This time, I tried being active despite my health, and I don’t know, I feel extremely sad over this other client. I wish they cancelled the first time, instead of waiting for me to redraw a WIP sketch and saying that they wanted to cancel.

I’m not usually an angry person, but I was so distressed by their words that I immediately requested a cancellation without knowing how it would affect me.

It’s unfortunate how some people are with revenge when you just wanted to do a good job and it falls out.

I would like to think that any negativity associated with a freelance job isn’t good for your health and well-being. I’ve been prone to depression the past few years and I know that it takes a toll on my creative work.

To end this, I would just like to say: Please don’t equate the need to clarify simply as incompetence or negligence. Sometimes, we just want to make sure what we’re doing is a good start to bringing your vision to life.

Don´t feel discouraged. There will always be some people who misunderstand your good deed/will (and maybe your buyer had a bad day that´s why they were being short-tempered at you).

@fitrigwrites4u You’re very right about that. And gosh, thank you for your encouraging words. I’ll keep doing my best. I’ve only had 10 orders on Fiverr my 7 years here, but I’m doing my best to stay motivated to balance old and new commissions on and off Fiverr.

I’ll try not to let this person or any other bad thoughts get to me. My art means a lot to me.
