"C++" not allowed in Gig titles

Providing “C++” programming is a very common Gig, but yet Fiverr does not allow “C++” in Gig title.

It’s not a bug as such. I can understand what you’re saying about the need to use a + but all punctuation is banned in titles - I presume it’s to stop the eye watering asterisks and exclamation marks that would be used if it were allowed. 🙂

Technically it’s not a bug. Titles don’t allow characters lke that. Can you add search tags for c++ ? If so that is all that is important. Fiverr is moving from title keywords to search tag keywords, but it’s a gradual change.

The old, “It is not a bug it is a feature”. Programmers are well aware of that story.

If a product does not work as the customer expects and desires, it is a bug. A feature is something that a customer wants and expects.

It is a simple 5 minute fix with no possible downside.

It’s not really punctuation in this case though. It’s the name of a programming language (C++). You should have the ability to put the actual name of the programming language you would be using to do the gig in the title of the programming related gig.

No, it’s not the same thing. I know the “bug not a feature” phrase too, I used to work Help Desk at an IT company. With Fiverr gig titles, it isn’t a bug or a feature. Titles are part of the URL as well as other code used by the site. Certain symbols would break the way it is designed, so they aren’t usable. It was designed that way and it wouldn’t be 5 minutes to change it.

It IS a problem that needs to be fixed because titles should never have been utilized over real keywords. A title should be a descriptor, not the main source for search keywords. I absolutely agree that buyers and seller have a reason to dislike that issue. Fiverr agrees too. They recently released a notice asking users to set up their search tags since the title will be emphasized far less than the real tags in the future. They didn’t make the change overnight because they wanted to give people time to adjust their tags.

You picked a good time to complain about it since you do need to make sure you can use C++ in a tag. If not, notify Customer Support right away before they implement all the planned changes. No one on the forum can help you with that part, but it is a good reminder for everyone to get their search tags set up. As far as I know, Fiverr has no plans to change the ways titles work right now. It would be nice if you could put certain symbols in them, I’d like it too, but that’s not their focus area right now.
