Usually - I am the seller - so I really sympathize with this seller who I bought a 24hr express article from. They did an incredibly poor job and I felt it was necessary to leave them a negative feedback rating their work was unusable.

I’ve contact customer support and blocked the seller however he keeps wanting me to mutually cancel the gig because “I’m ruining his rating” I feel like he cannot and SHOULD NOT bully his customers into leaving positive ratings or no ratings at all.

Fiverr has the ability to leave a comment in response to feedback and I left him some constructive criticisms both in private message and publicly on his gig and he’s flipping out.

I have a deadline to meet myself with this article and will now have to use bits and pieces of his stuff to paste it all together but they are saying since I left bad feedback - I can’t use their stuff?

Please advise.

Hello You mentioned “they” as in Fiverr or the seller telling you cannot use the work?

If you paid for the gig and there is no cancellation then I assume you own the rights to the work, substandard or not. If the sellers refunds then you would not have the rights to the work.

@bachas85 I did not reject or leave a negative review for “personal taste” I left it because it was very grammatically incorrect and there were SEVERAL spelling mistakes. One being “greater” spelled “grater” Not only that the read was choppy the transition from paragraph to paragraph was just all over the place. (perhaps this is more personal taste) I don’t expect grammar to be perfect but the use of prepositions needs to be correct IE: “On YouTube this video is great!” makes a whole lot more sense something along the lines of, "Of YouTube this video is grater!"

The seller complained about my complaint of the misspelling as “so what, too bad for you.” and when I told him its unacceptable to advertise 400 words and only ask to deliver 200 words this seller proceeded to tell me that my article at 200 words was plenty for my subject/project. We ended up compromising at 300 words but this seller did a terrible job all-in-all.

I do not intend use this seller’s entire piece but like I said - I am on a deadline and have used about 10-15% of his work (what was usable of it) just to get an entirely new piece going. If I have to I can rephrase his work - its just such an inconvenience.

When the seller first sent me the article paragraphs didn’t exist and when I asked for them to exist, it seemed like he just threw them in there every 2 sentences.

@bachas85 my problem right now is that they are trying to FORCE a cancellation on me and I am REFUSING to cancel for two reason:

  1. Other’s need to know what to expect when purchasing this individual’s gig
  2. I still am using about 10% of their usable work and they should be compensated for that.

@bachas85 I just did. Not only that but they just created a new account and tried to order my gig to screw me over. I’m pretty sure the account created 5minutes ago is this angry seller. So, now I have to suspend that and hopefully CS gets to my issue sooner than later and can see the IP addresses on these accounts and help me out!

Reply to @faith1029: Sounds like you did the right thing. I purchased a few bad gigs myself and for most I just don’t leave a rating but if it’s really bad, I agree that people need to know what they are purchasing. I think I’ve left two negative reviews basically because what the gig stated wasn’t what they were delivering. False advertising. It’s terrible now because I’m even more careful with my purchases. One person even said “it’s only five dollars”… well it’s my five hard earned dollars and of course I didn’t purchase from him. LOL

Okay now I’m a bit frustrated with support. They told me to report him as spam, but I can’t because he’s talking to me in an ORDER. Then I tried to cancel again and yet another abusive message from them. So I took screenshots and compiled a full PDF of evidence of what was going on inside my account view including my email comment alert from YouTube and my suspicion of the second account. I’ve been waiting all day to hear back from support but never got anything back after they told me to report it as spam… HELP???

tweet <-- I've started tweeting fiverr - I dunno if it'll do any good or if they'll end up banning me but honestly I don't care. Fiverr needs to protect its BUYERS as much as they protect the sellers too. Otherwise without buyers they wont have a site that generates income.

The only fair thing to do in this situation, so that you’ll be happy and the seller will be happy is to settle with him and get him to create a new article for you, that is in according to the original specs that he advertised.

This way you’ll get what you paid for, and the seller will be able to continue his service. You would remove the negative feedback/cancel as the seller would have shown good will to improve his service.

Don’t forget that some people may actually depend on their Fiverr income (especially if they’re younger, which seems so according to the sellers grammar), and you’re basically ruining their life by what is possibly a single bad order (if the seller had previous positive ratings, could be a bad day, etc.).

If you guys do what I said, you’ll see everything will be back to normal in less than a day 😉

Really? Fair to whom? The buyer already gave specific details about the low quality of the service rendered, and the ongoing conflict after the initial feedback was left. Why should the buyer have any reason to want to deal with this seller again. Idealism is one thing, but volunteering to repeat a deteriorating business deal in another.

No seller has "the right" to be a considered a respected author, on Fiverr or elsewhere. They actually have to deliver what they promise, or live with the consequences. This buyer seems legit when she says that she could not in good conscious endorse the sellers writing gig, because that would likely encourage other buyers to put confidence in it as well.

So that seller is the one at a crossroads. Either become a GOOD writer, as measured by reasonable expectations of reasonable buyers, or sell something else. But accepting valid criticism is part of being a professional, even at the low end of any profession.

I’d say the last post summed it up, especially in the writing business! If your grammar is garbage then guess what… your credibility and worth in the field has gone from 10,000 cool points to - 20,000 cool points. That being said, if anyone needs an ASAP job, don’t be afraid to inbox me. I stay away from articles all together but I’ll help a fellow seller out.

And as for " You can’t use my work" … well for us Freelance writers… that’s pretty much the dice throw in terms of someone not using say, a sample ( a sneaky way of some people to steal work without paying for it), when he/she pressed the upload button, that was the end of their intellectual property.
